See your point (now) but Sammy's decision to use a slight curvature on the edges of the display means that virtually all present protectors are partially useless after a period of time. I just didn't want to waste money on something I'd have to replace after x amount of time due to the 'halo' effect around the edges.this is why i always used a screen protector, a lot will say gorilla glass this, gorilla glass that, use the phone as its supposed to be used, naked etc but it not worth the risk imo
My iPhone 4 and Oppo screens are perfect and have been for ages without the use of a protector. Samsung tend to use some strange plasticky like glass on their phones, which I have noticed attracts fingerprints and dirt a lot easier than the previously mentioned phones.
