**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Have a look at running processes and see what's been running since boot. It'll probably be something Google services or Facebook related.

Yeah doesn't look good. Awake should pretty much mirror screen-on.

Plenty of info around the web to start with.

Google your top 2 wakelocks and see which apply.

Been on ota Lollipop for a while now and its fine, noticed no issues apart from smart select not working sometimes.

Been loving the gear vr but gonna get rid due to unexpected bills. Occulus cinema still blows my mind.

Well I uninstalled a bunch of junk and restarted the phone. Now I have 69% left on my battery after a day of usage the same as yesterday. Im happy about that. Phone is back to normal .

I've been on Lollipop for about a month now and the overall result is that battery life is a catastrophic mess. The damn thing is all over the place.

There could be days when I have good life and finish work with about 85% left on the phone, then there are days like this week so far where I am down to 50% at the days end. Just can't work it out and I've been trying to sort it for ages. It seems to be wakes 90% of the time.

Phone is at 46% so far and I've just got home. Normally it would be at 80%. Going to root Lollipop next weekend and observe it for a week, otherwise I'll return to KitKat.

Hopefully this won't get too lost in the thread...

I have a Note 2. I'm happy with it, but it's starting to feel a bit sluggish. The camera always takes just that 2-3 seconds too long to capture the moment. It doesn't feel that nippy any more, but it's not that big an issue. I have an opportunity to pick up a new phone....possibly a Note 4. However, I'm struggling to get excited at the idea as I'm on a decent SIM only plan for a tenner a month and am not convinced that an extra sixteen quid a month for a higher resolution display is worth it. Will it feel like a big step up, given that I'm more or less happy with what I have? Or should I just wait for the inevitable unibody Note 5? I'm also a bit concerned that having a QHD screen will leave it feeling just as sluggish as the Note 2, given all the extra pixels to shunt around. I don't use the S Pen any more, but none of the opposition looks that good and the LG G4 looks awful...

Also tempted by the S6, but not desperately keen to lose all that screen real estate...

Why don't you stick Cyanogen Mod on it, should make a nice difference?

Any decent docking stations for the note 4? Not looking to spend a huge amount but ideally looking for something that charges with decent current, syncs, allows otg and has hdmi out.

After reading the posts above about a quick draining battery, I thought I would do some sleuthing. These are my running apps since boot (around 24 hours). Any sneaky ones that shouldn't be here (e.g. Google Play Music - but will this hinder any other services if stopped?)?

  • Minimal clock (app - guess that's fine)
  • Lux (app - guess that's fine)
  • Greenify (fine)
  • SecurityManagerService (system - fine)
  • Passpoint Settings (system - fine)
  • Bluetooth (system - fine)
  • SmartcardService (system - fine)
  • Context Service (system - fine)
  • Google Services (system - fine)
  • Google Play Music (system - not fine as I don't use it)
  • PageBuddyNotiSvc (system - fine)
  • Quick connect (system - guess that's fine?)
  • Samsung Link Platform Connection (system - guess that's fine)?
  • Exchange Sevices (system - fine)
  • Smart Remote (system - guess that's fine?)
  • Unified Demon (system - fine)
  • com.sec.android.app.SmartClient (system - fine)
  • Swiftkey (app - fine)
  • Pushbullet (app - fine)
  • System UI (system - fine)

battery life doesn't seem to be as good. I used to be able to get at least 2 days out of a full charge for me. That included listening to Google Music at work and it didn't get much use after that at home. Now the phone tends to want charging after a day doing the same things.
