**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I've had an issue with my Note 4 where the phone can suddenly freeze and lock up, it then switches itself off and reboots.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, if so did you find the root cause ?

My phone is a SIM free UK phone, i've recently cleared the cache from the boot menu and also a hard reset via the home button, power button and volume up button. The only app i have on at the moment is kaspersky Internet security 2016 and Aquamail, the phone is otherwise clear.

Mine started doing this a few weeks back. It would slow down to a crawl, freeze for a few seconds then restart. It got more and more frequent and eventually it started giving me an "mmc_read failed" error on bootup.

It's a common fault with Note 4s. I got mine repaired by Samsung ( new motherboard complete with a new metal frame. It was looking as good as new). I ended up recycling it and getting myself an s7 edge.

Was yours the Note 4 F or the C?

How does the S7 Edge compare to the Note 4?

Is the headphone audio any good?

My Note 4 is still doing great but i completely forgot about the MM update lol.
Im guessing its not available yet but should be in the next week?

My battery is deteriorating pretty quickly. Annoying really, it should have lasted more than 12 months. It's not ever been fast charged. Need to get the replacement ordered.

Fair do's :)

On the plus side, it won't break the bank to get a new battery and thankfully we still have the choice of removable battery :P

Still very happy with my Note 4, the S7 Edge was tempting but not enough to warrant an upgrade, plus the reports of the DAC not being too great is a deal breaker too.

Will wait to see what the Note 6 has to offer I think.

Hello,

My note 4 is currently on Android 5.1.1 - i was wondering if there is an update available, when will i get Marshmellow?

I check my phone for updates but it says there is none?

Thanks

Sad times :(

You have served me well.

My mate bought his Note 4 the same time as me. Both ours started doing this, his died around 6-8 weeks back. Mine is still working...

As above. Mate got his repaired from Samsung for free, mine isn't totally dead just yet. It does this every once in a while but it isn't getting more frequent just yet...

Mine also often says sim removed, then requires a restart.

I also get this probably around once a week.

Does my Note 4 need repairing or do I have to wait until it just doesn't turn on one day?

What you gonna get to replace it?

TBH I have no idea yet, I have a Z3 to tide me over in the interim but it's pretty knackered itself so will have to decide quickly.

The 6P/S7/S7E seem like viable options, but then again I am tempted to wait for the Note 6 so we shall see

Damn El1te... What happened there?

Was in the garden and lifting a few boxes up the stairwell and it slipped outta my pockets and took a tumble on the concrete slabs :(

New battery fixed my issues, no problem when the battery is low now. Also took the opportunity to buy an Aukey quick charge 3.0 charger (i know the note 4 is QC 2.0 only but cost difference was nothing and it works fine), a wireless charging module (fits inside the phone) and a 10watt QI-infinity car dock :o That stuff will be forwards compatible with whatever phone i buy next so why not :)

Note 4 - FREE
unlimited mins/text/5GB data
£31 a month

I know some of us benefitted from the deal posted above back when the Note 4 was released. At the time it was an absolute blinding deal, for several months after I couldn't find anything remotely close to that for my cousin.

Similar deal to above is now available for the S7 Edge, check hukd for info! :)

Only posting in this thread as I know those who got the same deal as me on the Note 4 only have a few months left on their contract. I plan to sell my Note 4 and pay of the remainder of the contract which will actually leave me with some money in the pocket. My monthly bill stays the same, I have a shiny new S7 edge but I'm down from 5GB data to 3GB but hopefully a quick chat with O2 on Monday will fix that.
