**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

im looking to change to note 4 next month.

Im on three at the moment, they have offered me £41 a month with £99 up front for 600 mins/unlimited text/unlimited data.

Main thing i want is unlimited data, dont care about minutes, i use less than 100 a month.

Any better deals out there?

I was expecting cheaper contracts with the iphone 6 being out at the same time.

Any idea when mobiles are getting more stock in? Made my order last Thursday and heard nothing - can't seem to get through to anyone on the chat; not a massive issue, just eager to start drooling over this beast! :)

He said I would get it on 27th Oct

Cheers buddy! I went for the £38/month with £50 upfront for the phone, unlimited blah and 5gb of data - probably not the best of deals but compared to the £35 a month I'm paying for 1.5gb of data on my current S4, it's decent enough!

No way will you see it as soon as November, google have said the nexus devices will start getting the update in November followed by the GPE phones a few weeks later.

I say January at the very earliest.

If November/December is true, then they will be the very first OEM phones to get an official android update (especially a big one like this) in less than two months.......

My Note 4 isn't as smooth as that S5 in the video :(

Still waiting for mobiles.co.uk to reply to me, I think I'll jump onto the live chat in a bit to speed things up.

Weirdly my mobiles.co.uk order got refused @ credit check....despite having an experian account showing 999/1000 rating. Hmmmz...

So I rang o2 and got a deal with them, instantly approved, and it's worked out cheaper with the 30% off company affiliation deal thing (that I didn't realise I qualified for.) The chap on the phone said he had received a few calls today with credit checks refused from mobiles and CPW in-store transactions, so I don't know if I need to be concerned or if something is just a bit b0rked on their end?!

on both games iv played so far on this it throttles after a few minutes of play to about half speed.
I guess the only way to sort that out is with a custom rom that doesn't have that Samsung DVFS thing mrk mentioned. So I ask the question whats the point of having such a fast cpu if it does that? Kind of defeats the purpose to me lol. I don't remember my note 2 doing that but then again I had that on a custom rom for most of its time.

Yeah of course. Say I benchmark for example ill notice my scores half if I run a few games and then run a benchmark. I just did some real racing 3 and then some bike rivals and in both games after a short time I noticed them starting to lag and my cpu speed and gpu speed was about halfed.
From reading up it appears to be a kitkatt 4.4 thing with the DVFS algorithm being very aggressive.

Its very similar to this on the S4 that I found...

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/sa...at-performance-cpu-throttling-dvfs,26414.html

"This sort of behavior isn't limited to benchmarks, unfortunately. We fired up EA's Real Racing 3 and watched the frequency drop from 1890 MHz, down several steps, before settling at 918 MHz. As the CPU complex throttles down, we have evidence to suggest that the GPU scales back as well in defined steps."

Seems to be the same for me on the note 4.

Ive just let my Note run dead for first time.

I charged it last night to 100% and Ive got about 24hours out of it with watching a Movie for 1h30, browsing the internet and using it for music.

Not bad for its initial charge. Its back on charge now for its first charge from empty.

Very good phone, just gotta find a case for it asap cos Im scared to damage it

Have you got it sorted out?

No reply yet, and their live chat option was missing, so couldn't speak to them today :(

I posted the same thing a few pages back, I received an email saying o2 had rejected my application, so I spoke to mobiles.co.uk on the live chat and it appears somehow the wrong status had been put on their system, so I had actually been accepted (and I'm already an O2 customer, so I should hope so), after that it was all sorted :)

All my main apps are up and running now, no Sky Go support just yet though. Unlucky on that handset Space Monkey, definitely get it swapped. My box was completely sealed and the phone is running great, extremely smooth, no lag whatsoever, and well the screen is just stunning. Battery life is very good too, looks like I'll get a day easily with heavy use.

Anyone else not gonna bother with a case? I never dropped my Note 3 at all, I'll chance it with this I think :)

I have never put a case on any phone I own and I won't on my note 4 when I get it. I did crack the top of the screen on my note 3 when I dropped it

Don't think I'm going to put a case on either, I want a glass screen protector in case I manage to scratch it somehow.

Saying that the S View case seems quite nice, could it possibly save battery life too by not having to use the whole screen all the time?

There's the wallet case too, can ditch my wallet then!

I've never owned a flip case before, some people don't seem to like it.
