thanks for the reply, i ended up downloading it and using Odin, no issues

as i am quite new to the note 4 i was wondering what people are using in the way of cases? and wireless charging?

I've never bothered with a case for the Note4. the phone is already big enough, a case just makes it more bulky

I'm liking 5.1.1 though, I can using ArtFlow/Autodesk Sketch, read a book on Amazon Kindle throughout the day and also listen to music for 8 hours at work through Google Music. Always still have 40%+ left by the time I'm home after work.

so do I. Took it off in the end, so uncomfortable to use if you rest your little finger near the usb socket.

Same reason I stopped using the Spigen cases on various devices I've owned, that battery cutout is made of razors.

It's been a long time since I've been in the world of Samsung, what's so great about BTU?

BTU isn't on OTA but had no issue updating with kies, the software recognised the phone and there was an update. all i had to do was click a button and it's now upgraded.

Guys, I'm on 4.4.4. If I update to 5.1.1 via Odin, I assume it's better to start off from scratch with a factory wipe? Or can I just update with Odin and retain all my stuff? It's been so long that I can't remember.

When I click on check for updates, nothing happens. It says last checked on 08/09/2015!

It normally changes the date from when it last checked though. It's as if it's not actually checking to see if there is an update?

Successfully installed 5.1.1 via Kies last night on my sim free 'F' phone. It went smoothly with no problems.

I've not noticed any huge changes so far, potentially a bit snappier but I don't know if that's placebo from reading about it.

There's maybe less lag when opening the apps list.

Updated mine with 5.1.1 via Odin in about 10mins flat. Having no root is depressing but at least my Nexus 6P is coming soon and I can now get rid of this thing. Looking forward to seeing how it performs at work today as 5.01 was an absolute disaster.

I lost no data in the transition from rooted Kitkat to 5.1.1 which was nice

Edit: Already noticing some aggressive ram management just browsing via Firefox.

Yeah, the BTU n510f update is out. Can get it from kies or Xda.

Kainz, did you update straight over your rooted kitkat installation?

I'm doing the same as you, getting Nexus 6P to replace the note. Fed up of waiting forever for updates from Sammy, and I prefer stock.

Do you not think that you'll be taking a downgrade on the Camera quality, Nexus phone cameras have always been utter pants.

The new nexus phones are superb for the camera and will be better than the note 4, check dxomark for their review

I've weighed it up, but I'm not too bothered about the camera. I prefer to have timely updates and more of a stock experience. If the 5X had been smaller and a little more premium I would have gone for that. Used to love my LG G2.
But the size of the 5X is close to Note form factor, whilst the screen is smaller. Doesn't make sense to me. If there were dual front facing speakers then I guess it would have made sense.
