**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Just checked it over wifi and it said i already had the latest already installed on mine which was 5.0.1 so i looked on kies and i got a updated flash up to upgrade to 5.1.1
So i'm giving it a quick charge of the phone and doing the update over kies.

Kainz, did you update straight over your rooted kitkat installation?

I'm doing the same as you, getting Nexus 6P to replace the note. Fed up of waiting forever for updates from Sammy, and I prefer stock.
Yeah, I was desperate as I want to sell the phone with at least a half upto date build on it ala 5.1.1. My KK was rooted and Xposed with a lot of Samsung junk removed. I see no data loss, and I had the sd card in place when I updated via Odin.

All the that junk is back now :( Standby life on 5.1.1 so far this morning seems good - it was at 95% at 12:20 and has dropped to 90% now as I type this out 15mins later. Quite a sharp drop oddly. Too early to really say though. Recents menu has a minute amount of lag to it but is very snappy. James.Miller earlier mentioned camera gallery lag and yes that is there on this too.

Ideally I'd like to have factory wiped the device and then put LL onto it but as said, I was desperate having waited for as long as we have.

Come home at 16:45 having left the house at 07:20 and 5.1.1 is at 70% with just over 2hrs of SoT. It was at 90% at lunchtime. So far early on in, it seems to be just a bit worse than KK - I'd normally be at 85% by the time I get home but that was with a lot of KK bloat removed. Still waiting to see if I have inconsistent battery like like I did with 5.0.1.

Background operations like indexing etc maybe going on though still.

Edit: Went to sleep with the phone at 50%. Woke up at 5am this morning with 48% That's better than Kitat there.

I just had a random 70MB OTA update - no idea what it was, but I was secretly hoping it enabled the VoLTE stuff on Three as my signal is dire indoors. Doesn't seem to be that though.

It's the little things which seem the best :D

Sometimes after a full charge, in the morning I see my phone and think it's depleting pretty fast. then after around the 90% mark it seems to last for ages.

Probably just a bug fix. Maybe for Stagefright.

Pretty happy with the transition from my N6 to the Note 4. The Note is just smaller enough to combat the awful typing experience I had on the N6 and I've had nowhere near as many typos. Battery life doesn't seem as good but I've had Galaxy phones before so that was expected. Updated to 5.1.1 this morning and everything is just as smooth as the Nexus was. I'm actually not minding the more Material-styled TW, at least it mostly fits in with the general styling now.

Best thing is, now I can have my Play Music (all of it!) downloaded to the SD card so no more ruining the work internet or thrashing my data allowance. I'm still pining for an N6 with an SD card though, damn Google to hell. :(
