**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

At last!!!!
Three have finally pushed out the Marshmellow update to me.

Also, I've been using an Anker battery for the last couple of months & it's been as good as my original Samsung one was when it was new.

Well, MM finally installed, not had a good play around with it yet, but not really seeing a huge change so far.
No doubt after a fiddle tonight I'll be moaning that so & so doesn't work or I can't find this & that ! :D

I installed Omega V3 6.0.1 yesterday.

The phone is far faster now. Very stable.

Battery life is massively improved. I normally hit 25% by now. It's on 60% right now!

Wowzers

Do you have a linkie to that ROM and a guide on installing?

May throw that on my N4 when my N7 turns up. Have not rooted it yet as need to use the mobile banking apps which throw a paddy if they are installed on a rooted phone

I used to use Omega a while back - great ROM.

Right another throw of the 'battery' die. I am going to wipe everything including my SD card (someone previously mentioned a dodgy MP3 file was causing issues).

Everything you need is here :). Flashing ROMs like this usually give you root access so you won't be able to use your banking apps like you said, I have yet to find a working root hider app.

Don't quote me on this but for most of these ROMS you need to install a recovery tool (CWM or TWRP which allows you to flash various things pre boot), then the correct modem/bootloader with Odin (I suggest version 3.10.6) and then the ROM itself. All the instructions will be in that thread. I will be flashing myself later today so can post something more concrete :)

Anyone had this when you have updated to the latest MM, android is starting, starting apps, been getting this message on my note 4 now and again (not on every boot up) when i boot my phone up in the morning, just wanna know how to stop it doing it, only lasts for acouple of seconds but still, it shouldn't be doing it now after months on running MM.

It seems do it either after new apps are installed or certain apps are upgraded (not sure which) on mine as well. I vaguely recall it also occasionally used to do it on my Moto G 2nd Gen after the MM upgrade.

First battery run since MM & I got 1 day 17 hours with 28% remaining.
That was with 3 hours 40mins screen time, plus the usual emails, texts whats app, Web browsing etc. Plus about 40 mins of watching TV.

About the same as when I was on LP, this is with a replacement Anker battery.

As to MM, can't really see what has changed except for a few icon updates & menu changes.
Still happy it's finally on the phone & seems to be working ok.

Hello chaps

Is the Note 4 still worth getting, especially if the Note 7 is just around the corner?
Looking for a phablet with a stylus so I can make notes during my final year at uni. I can't afford a Note 7!

TBH I don't find either of my notes (1 and 4) that great for significant note taking - just don't have enough accuracy to be convenient for anything other than quick reminders IMO.

As above, it's good for short notes and quick bits of text, but it gets a bit cumbersome for longer periods of writing. I don't find the accuracy an issue on mine though.

It comes into its own for annotating stuff - I tend to use the S-Pen for this more than note-taking.

It isn't so much the accuracy an issue - it just doesn't keep up as well as a pen/pencil does in longer periods of rapid note taking making a pad and pen more convenient in my experience - doing stuff at your own pace rather than trying to keep up with a lecture or something is another story.

Any one had any experience with changing the DPI? Running Omega 3.0 which is good so far but it feels like it's running in 640x480, I hate it. Downloaded App Settings for Xposed but no idea how to use it and it looks like it's for per app basis, when I simply want to change the DPI across the whole OS.

Good Lock version 12 is out. It's been getting better and better with each release.

I'm in 2 minds about using it now as I actually like Touchwiz on the Note 4. I'd prefer a black/grey colour option but otherwise visually not too bad. Also there's been the option to uninstall through the settings in the last few releases rather than uninstalling the SystemUI update.

I bought one of the Anker batteries mentioned by someone earlier in this thread.

Since replacing my original battery I haven't experienced any unexpected shutting down from 20% etc.

Money well spent!

Overall battery life seems good. Its been in a couple of days now.

Well since the last update after MM installed, battery life has certainly improved.
Currently got 5% left & been off charge for 2 days 17 hours. That's with 4 hours of screen time & the usual texts, WhatsApp, emails etc.
