Said sod it and installed CM11 and PA Google Apps full package.

Wow. I forgot just how much nicer Google's stock animations are vs Samsung/HTC/Sony/LG. This is much nicer and the added features are a bonus. I will need to find an Action Note replacement though but other than that I'm going to be on CM from now on.

yeah I've been debating the same too but miraculously my battery life seems to have gone back to pre kit kat levels so holding off. did you root in a knox friendly way?

I use 'papyrus' for note taking with the pen
 
Considering getting another note 3 again, how easy is it to root and install custom roms on these, its been so long since I've done any of that, couldn't stand the Samsung ui which is why I sent it back but cm might sway things
 
I did trip knox. As it's easiest and it really don't bother me.
Couple of clicks and done.

Look on XDA for how to do it the other way. Not done it myself so can't comment.
 
My battery life is awful lately. Is there any reason for that? Dying battery? Kit kat? I have to have power saving mode permanently enabled and I still only get about 8 hours out of it.

Same on my s4 the past few days, no new apps or change of use habits but battery is getting hammered.

It could be signal, 3, along with the last few months poor data speeds in the last few days I've dropped out of a couple of calls and had a few texts fail and a security update fail.

Could have sworn music quality decreased in cm11 vs Samsung ROMs but enabling dsp manager and tweaking a few things seems to have gotten close, still not as crisp in treble like it used to be. Samsung had that well sorted.
 
Yeah 4.4 (vs 4.3) on all platforms has new audio features that Samsung took advantage of but CM11 is not processing audio the same way Samsung does it and I'm not hearing the full roundedness I used to. Mostly in the mids and highs which don't have that open feeling I would hear in the same music I always listen to.
