****The Official Note III Thread****

Samsung are able to manufacture the dimms inhouse so if you compare the cost of memory acquisition (as part of a build list) between say, Samsung and HTC, you can see why they can upgrade handset RAM for cheap.

A question for Note 1 & 2 owners, do you prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio of the Note1 or the 16:9 of the Note2?

For me I love the extra space offered by 16:10 for web browsing. 16:9 only really comes into its own for playing videos. I think it's a pretty fair bet Samsung will stick with 16:9 for the Note3 though.

And (just letting my mind wander) with the talk of whether Samsung can fit 5.99 inches inside the same sized chassis at the Note2, I wonder whether they would dare going for a totally new aspect ratio. Something like 2:1 perhaps with the screen pretty much filling the entire front of the phone. Just a thought.

16:9 for me especially watching media on it and also displaying images border free.

I have always preferred 16:10 Aspect Ratio.
Every modern device I own, works at that resolution.
Galaxy Note 1.
2009 Mac Book Pro 17".
Dell U2407 WFP.
Dell U3014.

I prefare that resolution for reading, surfing + playing games.
However I do appreciate why 16:9 is more popular, an so many people like it; It's better for movies...

I am intrigued by the NOTE 3 specifications. It will be one device I will consider for the xmas period.

Love my Note 1, skipped the Note 2 as I didn't want to swap to 16:9.

I will certainly look at Note 3 though, I can handle 16:10 it it means I get 1080p.

Ditto, I went from note 1 to S3 and will definately have a look at the note 3 :)

Prefer the 16:10 on the Note 1 but I'd probably not be so fussy on a higher resolution, 720 vertical is cutting it a bit fine at ~5" where the extra space is somewhat useable.

I'd be happy enough just to see an iteration on the Note 1 with a slightly better screen, better battery life and tiny little downsize physically, its lost me once it starts going much above 5" as it doesn't fit standard pockets, etc. so might as well go the whole hassle of carrying a tablet around.

Wasn't the Galaxy Mega going to be the successor of the Note II? Otherwise, it seems Samsung are going to release 2 hybrid successor phones to the Note II (Mega and Note III) in close succession, and they're both at around 6.0" give or take.

Not even close! :p

The mega phones are suppose to be budget phablets, specs are nowhere as good as what the note III will be (and the 6.3" one is barely even better, if at all than the note II). Only thing they have in common is the screen size and battery life (iirc), don't think they even have a stylus???

Galaxy Note III to be unveiled on September 4 with 5.7" display

The report also says Samsung Galaxy Note III is said to sport a 5.7" Super AMOLED display, rather than the 6" unit that was most frequently mentioned so far. The 1080p resolution is still expected to feature a Snapdragon 800 chipset or an Exynos 5 Octa processor along with 3 GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the third generation Galaxy Note phablet is said to come out with a 13 megapixel rear camera and will be slightly thinner than the Galaxy Note II with its profile measuring 8mm.

Looking forward to this, it will be a replacement the wife's ageing Note 1.
