My prediction is at 1440p when both are maxed out assuming your Titan X is a decent clocker, the 1080 will struggle to be 20% faster in most games. At 4k I think it would be even less as the Titan X will gain more in memory overclocking due to the bigger bus. The 1080 will become the new single gpu king though of that I have no doubt.

Totally understandable. If AMD do not have price and performance figures of Polaris XT out by the time the custom cooled 1070 is out, they deserve to lose a potential sale.

That is what I will also do if 1070 can match or beat TX for around £300 and overclocks like a beast.

They will. That's why comparing Nvidia cards is not an exact science. You could gave a high boosting 1080 v a poor boosting 980ti. It would make the Ti look slower and off course this could happen the other way round making the 1080 look slower.

True, although it is never going to be a massive sway (wouldn't affect the results more than 5% really).

I have not overclocked in awhile but comparing it to the Fury X, I ran it at 1420Mhz and +500 memory and will keep it the same for the 1080. I will have to spend some time finding the highest stable OC on the 1080 but shouldn't take that long.

I'm running 2 x 780ti's with moderate OC's, obviously ill wait to see the reviews but do you think that I will get better performance out of a 1080 given the info we already have about them? Looking at a random websites 'test' of a 1080 running Firestrike in 1080p vs my result in 1080p, im getting 2000 more points somehow..

My original idea was to sell them both and get a 1080, but obviously won't be doing this if im going to be loosing performance, which I doubted I would? I know the 780 ti's are getting on now but they do still hold their own fairly well, even at 1440p.

You will get better performance and you have plenty of VRAM to help in those games that need it. I would certainly sell the 780Ti's and buy a single 1080.

Then why not show overclocked 980 sli scores as well? Makes it looks more impressive than it really is. Dont get me wrong the 1080 is fast no doubt, but overclocking that and then tout a 50ish lead over someting like the 980ti at stock seems silly to me. Pump them all up and lets see some fists swinging in a fair fight.

Well if the results are indeed genuine, the 1080 at 2114mhz already beats the 8pack's highest LN2 Titan X score on Firestrike Extreme

Checked the firestrike thread for OC results. The average 980ti/Titan X graphics scores are around 22000 for the good cards. Some reaching nearly 23k. So overclocked this is looking to be around 20% faster and possibly more as 2.1ghz could be simple and not pushing. It could off course be a great card and barely any can reach it.
 
I just checked my scores on Firestrike and I was a couple of points shy of 21K (20906).
