I would not go near 4k on a PC monitor, if you have a 4k TV then you can run some older games on it, but as a PC monitor 3440x1440 is the best. Or 2560x1440 if you do not mind the smaller size.

I had a Samsung 4K moni and it was sweet but I am loving this Swift still but really tempted by a super wide 1440P in truth but buying a 1080 and a Rift means I will have to wait a while :(

So the 2 way only SLI thing is false?

I suspect that the new SLI bridges are for the higher resolutions that the 10xx series can run.

Just wondering if it is even needed to buy a new SLI bridge for 2 way. Would 2 old type bridges do the job ?

For online shooters etc. the swift is very good as it has 0 input lag and 144hz, but single player games the 3440x1440 is the best and 100hz is good enough.

When you get the rift you will completely lose any ideas of getting a widescreen :D

War Thunder is so so good with it

I gave up on WT on a screen because i could not get the hang of it at all and just kept dying, first time in the rift i got two kills, and a week or so of regular play I'm mid to top of the board insttead of dead last all the time

Can't wait for the 17th May, it is going to be so strange that tech sites will actually have cards to test for a new card launch. We have not seen that happen for a while.:D

Yer, my interest has wained because of Oculus ****ing up this launch big time but going to stick with my pre-order. At least I am hooked on The Division to help whittle away the time in between.

I thought it was known that the 1080s wern't just limited to 2x SLi, its the HB thats limited to 2x SLi, if you want to run more than 2x cards, then you use normal bridges.

Yep, mine is even a bit faulty as the horizon us not straight, they are aupposed to be sorting me a replacement but its been over a month

Nvidia are only officially supporting 2 way SLI with Pascal cards. SO even if people manage to get 3way working, they shouldn't expect it to perform well if at all.

TBH, it would have been better from the start if both teams just focused on dual card setups and optimised for it.

I genuinely think we will constantly be chasing 60 fps max settings at 4K and if we ever get there, 8K will be the next must have thing, as the better hardware gets, the prettier and more demanding game engines come out. 2 cards or more are the sweet spot for 4K really.
We will get there, just like 1080p has mostly been 'tackled' at this point, but man, resolution jumps after 4k are going to get ridiculous. We're going to really start entering the realm of seriously diminishing returns and the horsepower required for it will continue to grow on an exponential curve. A curve that we're already struggling to climb just to get to 4k.

I just have to wonder - is it really going to be worth it? Is there not something a LOT more useful we could do with all the horsepower it would take to go from 4k to 8k? Pushing more frames, or better yet - more impressive graphics?

Plus, I dont see much need for 8k in the living room. Most people's TV setups will barely even benefit from going 1080p -> 4k. You need to either be sitting fairly close to the TV or have a really nice size screen. Going above that is going to be pointless unless you've got some 80"+ monster or something. And what this all means is that I think consoles are going to 'settle' on 4k for quite a long time and developers will continue to target their graphics based on 4k resolutions, even as a couple generations go by. Imagine how much more graphics could improve if devs didn't have to expend a huge chunk of the performance budget on pushing a higher resolution! I think that'd be wonderful.

I don't think I can sit back and wait for the GTX 1070 while everyone is playing with their GTX 1080 Founders Milking edition GPU's..

Put me down for one as well plz :P

Will this be lower power consumption than my Nano? I'm using Passive 520W PSU..

Haha I knew it, all this talk about a 1070 i can see you getting something more powerful than a 1080 later on in the year or early 2017 as well place your order for Boom's second hand cards :p.
