Lol, was you just not a few hours ago having a go at Nexus?

I'm *really* disappointed in the 1080 if I'm honest. Effectively 2 node shrinks and this is the best they can do!!??? I think they're giving us *just* enough to keep us happy tbh
Any views on 1070 vs. 2x 970?
- new tech and featuresWell overclocked 980Ti = Stock 1080.
The End.

It's not really two node shrinks, though. This is basically a reworked 20nm process. Intel is the only one with a true 14nm process right now.I'm *really* disappointed in the 1080 if I'm honest. If it can just edge out a Titan X at 1080p and 1440p on release, it should be able to open the gap up as drivers mature. The official 1070 specs were released today

Think it will only match reference Ti/Tx after its clocked,Ti/tx with decent over clocks will be a fair bit faster i'd imagine
Going to report you to a mod now, had enough this behaviour![]()
I think they will be very comparable. A 1080 is basically double the performance of a 970. So it stands to reason a slightly cut down version would be around the performance you'd expect of typical 970 SLI scaling.Any views on 1070 vs. 2x 970?
I'm guessing of course, but I doubt a 1070 would beat a pair of 970s unless VRAM was the issue. (It will depend on the game, settings and resolution).
However 1070 SLI should be a very good upgrade and should be quite a lot faster than a single 1080.
Given the expected price of 1080s, that's the route I'm looking at.
even after all this talk about sli being poop ? even the guy on linus tech tips is not recommended, also on your 1440p i can see one 1070 be at least on pair with 970sli...
Unfortunately nobody is really doing much VR benchmarking in general.Has anyone seen any VR benchmarks? Does the 1080 need VR games to be recoded?
Have tried google but it didn't return anything useful.

The supposed leaked specs for the 1070 posted earlier state that it'll be an 8GB card. Whether that's 8GB or "8GB" remains to be seen of course. So if SSMs/SMXs are the only indication of performance, the 1070 with 15/20 will be 3/4s of the performance of a 1080. It's not going to be quite that straight forward though I'm guessing. It may have 8GB RAM, but only 3/4s of the memory controllers (6GB card anyone).
