*****The OFFICIAL OCUK 2012/2013 Fantasy Football League*****

I've had to use my Wildcard. Knowing my luck Bale, Cisse, Hart will now score more points than anyone from now on.

Tevez and RVP at front now, had to play my wild card though, team was very unbalanced !!! Otherwise it would've taken 32pts to get it right...the fruit of not doing any research pre-season and just picked any random 11 to begin with.

I do this every year !!! whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I used my wildcard already but meh, I had it all the way up until late last season and only used it to stock-pile double playing players in GW32 or something, so it wasn't essential.

My point is sometimes you can save it and save it and actually never use it for something worthwhile.

The way I see it is getting RvP in is essential and there's always another one to use in January if need be. And of course you can always just take the points hit instead...

Wildcard played.

I made the mistake of leaving RvP out of my team for most of last season and it cost me a fortune to bring him in so I figured I might as well get him while he's 'cheap'.

Argh they haven't stuck in Gaston Ramirez yet :(

I am going to have to play my wild card when he is in as my forward and defensive line ups are all wrong (and I am wasting points with De Gea in goal!)

Going to have to copy the RVP and Tevez combination....

Regarding wildcard usage I usually save mine until after Christmas, although with the extra one you get nowadays maybe not so vital. Like the guy above for me it is usually to try and exploit DGWs - in fact last season I think I used my main wildcard to setup for a DGW, and then used the winter wildcard to 'fix' the team back to something for the rest of the season.

One thing that is worth noting is that if you use your wildcard really late in the season arguably you don't get much benefit from it i.e. if you play it in Week 3, then potentially you get 35 weeks of benefit from it, compared to only 6 weeks if you play it in week 32.

Personally I steered clear of RvP in preseason because I wasn't sure where he'd end up playing and all my transfers to date have been fire-fighting rather than tactical changes (getting rid of a Villa player who isn't getting picked, getting rid of a Chelsea player as they weren't playing this week, and getting rid of VdV as he's left the league. I also felt although arguably the best player in the game he's also the most expensive.

Wild card played, Tevez and RVP up front, Foster in goal (after De Gea didn't even start this weekend), abandon Terry and hope Ivanovic gets a few good games.

Lallana was dropped because at the same price of Gaston Ramirez I thought it would be worth a punt with the new guy coming along and being amazing.

Still not the most balanced team but being 195th can be improved on quite easily.

The other trouble with saving wildcards is if you use it after half the season then chances are you'll be paying inflated prices on any players that are in form.

And the trouble with stocking up in double GWs and reverting back is you only get half the profit on a player's value, which means sometimes you simply can't afford to revert back to the team you had before.

My tactic early on is always to invest in players that will increase in value and that often means that if I swap them out then I can't afford to bring them back in. Team value is £102.1mil with £0.6mil in the bank already.

Used my wildcard last week now have to take an 8 point hit to get Cazorla back in, wanted Hazzard but would have cost me 16 points :(. Hope it works out as well as last weeks points haul:

Ruddy
Vermaelen Lescott Williams
Michu Dyer Cazorla Toure
Tevez(v) Podolski Van Persie(c)

Damn you all for going with RVP & Tevez, I only got one week of the pair of them before everyone else jumped on board  :p

Up to 51st this week

I had it and then had a week where I took out Toure & RvP and stuck Hazard and someone else in.

I still don't know why I did it, I don't even remember it, must have been a moment of madness/sleep deprived fantasy swapping :(.

Gutted I couldn't squeeze yaya toure in there

Shouldn't really be chasing past form but as a whole sale change to most my team to compensate for a complete lack of foresight it should help...

Does anyone else think that expensive defenders are a bit of a waste? .....I was looking for an Arsenal defender to put in, and originally put in Vermaelen, then I thought that Anyone else in the same back four will get the same clean sheet or whatever. I went with Gibbs for 2m less(he should play most games shouldn't he?). Only thing that might swing it for me would be a def who scores goals I suppose.

The best thing to do with CB's is try and get investment options (well that's my guess).

Vertonghen has already increased in value since the start of the season and I hope Olsson will too! It does seem a waste to spend a lot on CB's as you don't get as many points for a clean sheet from them as you do from forward players (though they are more consistent points scorers usually as they don't get subbed as much).

Looks like everyone's going to have exactly the same team bar a few defensive differences :p. I'm still umming and arring about having two Swansea midfielders but there's nobody who can compete for their value and Routledge is effectively a forward anyway (and I wouldn't be unsure about it if he was actually listed as one).

Here's mine plus .6mil in the bank.
