Depends. If it looks like a players price is due to rise or fall one day it is often shrewd to transfer early to reap the financial benefit. The top fantasy football managers always had a much higher than average team value due to doing this. By doing so you have more money to improve to a wining team.

Yup, speculate to accumulate, it can even be worth spending some points as well early on if it means you have a few million extra towards the end of the season.

It should also be said, now is the time to spend points if necessary as you've got 36 games to make up the lost points when you might only be 20 or 3 points down instead of losing points in April when you're 2-300 points down and have no chance as most teams will end up with the same or similar teams. If you're going to make changes that cost points, do it now basically.
