***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

I don't like those new SW sets at all, much like the hideous TFA first sets. Now they have a bit more time the TFA sets are getting better, like that blue x wing, so much better. I guess they have such locked down limited information to build from.

I've tried to like the new wave of sets but I just cant for the most part. I do like the Resistance X-Wng and will pick that up at some point, but I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like Vader's Tie vs. the A-Wing.

Then it hit me, it's not the classic A-Wing. As much as I like Rebels, I'd be all over that set if the classic OT A-Wing was in there with Vader. Similarly, no interest in Rex's AT-TE but wouldn't mind getting the original.

I think I'll be holding onto my money for the most part (might pick up some smaller older sets) and picking up the first UCS set to be announced next year. The next UCS is rumoured to be a new Death Star playset and should be announced in the Autumn (again, no interest) but the following one, normally announced in January, is rumoured to be a UCS Snow Speeder.

I was tempted by the thought of picking up multiples of that Marvel set: 76057 (have a friend who can get them for about £50 each) and making a larger bridge segment; but decided against it and to save my money, as my main love and interest is Star Wars with the odd Technic kit.

The Porsche does nothing for me, I'm more inclined to pick up the forthcoming 42053 Volvo EW160E when it's released.

My current project is just under half way through the UCS Slave I and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Still stock issues with the Porsche Online, my local store (Meadowhall) had no stock over the weekend either. If the website still hasn't got them by next Saturday I will try again ad brick and mortar stores still seem like the best way of getting one. On ebay there is already a +£100 premium.

Wondering what the problem actually is, Lego have come out and said that the instruction "error" with the gearbox was actually a deliberate design decision to make it work better, whether you believe that or not is debatable, but if that's their official line it must be some other problem.

I'm a sucker for SW lego and joined the party pretty late so will be picking up the CTT and the Resistance X wing. Know what you mean about the Rebels/Clone Wars sets, I dont follow those so it means little to me. I have an ATTE so will be missing Rex's ATTE, no idea who Rex even is!

no idea who Rex even is!

Only the best Clone Trooper there is :D

Rebels is manure but the Clone Wars series is a must watch. First series is a bit meh but after that it's pretty damn good. I too am not a fan of Rebels sets, or TFA but Clone wars stuff is pretty good. Probably as they have had more time to make decent sets with the Prequel cross over.

I make exceptions where i see a great ship design, the Sith Fury Interceptor being one. Thats a brilliant design and very obviously of the "star wars theme".

Saturn V Apollo Rocket and The Beatles Yellow Submarine have been revealed among the future Ideas releases

Still waiting on that Caterham :(

Anyone managed to get hold of, or thinking of buying the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS model ? From the reviews it sounds quite flawed which is really disappointing. Nevermind, still looking forward to the Claas Xerion tractor and Bucket Wheel Excavator in August.

I think a lot of folk are struggling to get hold of one as they instantly sold out(?).

So this is just rumour but...

They were instantly sold out online only. Lego stores have had a relatively steady stream of them, but not always stocked. I tried Meadowhall last Saturday and they had none, but this could just be down to it being a pretty exclusive and desirable set.

The rumour is that the way the packaging is arranged inside the box is making some of the inner boxes inside get crushed when multiple sets are stacked on top of each other on pallets in the warehouse, and there is a difference between how they are stored/shipped for online orders as opposed to in store, and that's why they haven't been available from the website. The delay is so Lego can adjust the packaging.

I'm still waiting on news of my Day 1 online order, if I don't hear anything by the weekend I'll be trying Meadowhall again. All the reviews I've seen have been generally positive, albeit with a few small gripes, but overall it's a very impressive set which I'm looking forward to getting :)

I must have been looking at a different cross section of reviews then, as many of the ones I've seen have been quite critical, and some of those have been from well respected, usually staunch Lego supporters.

One thing I dislike about any technic set that uses elastic bands. Once its built, the clock starts ticking before it fails, then you are faced with a total rebuilt and trying to find more of them.

If I get the GT3, I don't think it will ever leave the box !

Yellow sub would be awesome is it confirmed ?

Yep - https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/1-blog/post/65

 I usually just look at Brickset and Brick Fanatics for Lego news. They both seemed positive with a few gripes.

Went to Legoland today....

May have purchased the F40 :D

It's a great set

So glad that Saturn V has been confirmed as an Ideas set!

Edit: Wow, it's nearly a meter tall!!! That's going to be an expensive set if they don't scale it down.
