As my OP3 is still going strong, and I can't justify an upgrade (not much jumping out at me as essential on a new handset) I'm toying with the idea of switching over to Lineage OS to keep getting updates, and the like.

Pretty sure that it won't kill my banking app (HSBC), but may screw integration with work apps (MS Company Portal has a fit about unlocked bootloaders and rooting, but I now have a work handset so have an alternative option) so interested to know any other OP3 owners that have moved away from Oxygen OS, how easy it is to load a new ROM and what the experience has been like :)

I switched to LineageOS about 6 months ago, plenty of guides online that are easy to follow.

Both android pay and my NatWest app both work using magisk to hide root

Awesomecakes :)

Will do some reading up, but if I can get OS and security updates for a bit longer with a more than capable handset then I'll be happy (and my wife will do less rolling of eyes when I talk about new tech).

Thanks, Frozen!

This OTA will have a staggered rollout, the OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs, so using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout Is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices.

Will just have to sit it out, it's not on the OxygenOS Updater either.

Tried the usual VPN trick today, it didn't work. Installed 'oxygen updater' off the Play store and it downloaded straight away, all patched up and done in 5 mins :)

I'm using my OP3 as a back up phone as my S8+ is away having a new screen fitted. This runs so much quicker and nicer, it's mad. Think I'll be selling my S8 on once it's back and keeping the OP3 back to my daily driver.

Yeah Samsung phones lack the smoothness and fluidity compared with OnePlus and the Pixels. The Pixels are the most buttery.

It's possibly the best phone I've owned. Coming up to two years of ownership now and still going strong.
