**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

Bit disappointed with the battery being only 3300, but if they're right about the reduced consumption should suit me down to the ground.

Have ordered the 8gb 128gb. Dispatch tomorrow. Will need a case though as the camera is embossed. Can finally get rid of my dying nexus 6.

Hopefully dband or similar will come out with some nice skins.

was ready to pull the trigger at around 399, at 449 nope.
S8 can be had for 500 and that price will drop further.
just not ready to shell out this much for OP.

Tend to agree. This looked promising but after a perusal of a the specs and a couple of reviews I can't see the price justification for a non-mainstream brand.
Deal wreckers for me
- no IP rating - my Sony z3 which is a 3 yo phone was waterproof
- no SD card. I know this has 128mb version but I like the utility of a micro SD
- design - nice but a little dull

I think I'll see what happens to the HTC u11 pricing over the next month or so.

Ordered the 128GB variant. Used the early ticket code and also a $30 referral thing that was floating around on Twitter. Bought a car charger and and silicon case.

£517.64 delivered so I'm happy :D

I don't really feel that hyped about it compared to other OP phones, but it does look like a good step up from the 3T.

Now the real question is if they can keep up with at least a couple of years of software support. OP2 never got Nougat, OP3/3T is doing better but now the 5 is out wonder if they'll keep it up, or just mainly focus on the 5?

Not really a big enough battery, cheating when it detects a benchmark app running, no IPX rating, no wireless charging, no shift in software UX from the 3T... it does have a good camera now which is a plus (keks), but the old generation design of the phone, coupled with non expandable storage (should have a 256GB option if no SD card slot is on it) and lack of advanced features will leave this behind the competition once again, even if the price is in the acceptable range.

One reviewer said his OP5 is now the daily driver, overtaking the Galaxy S8, yet in the same review he states the display and things won't wow anyone, they're just good, but nothing spectacular. I wonder how much OnePlus coined him to big it up that way given that the Galaxy S8 currently has one of the best displays on the market, the OP5 AMOLED panel isn't even HDR.

Considering all other flagships are going the minimal bezel approach with advanced features, hell even LG saw the light with the updated G6, it's not a good show from OnePlus.

To me, this is another HTC, it's too little too late, just HTC go one step further up the derp scale with their pricing structure. Although that's typical for HTC.

Hmmmm, was looking forward to this. Seems to have priced itself a little too high without the features to back it up Vs the true high end phones.

Happy with my £130 Zuk Z2 which still zips along nicely with the SD820, has plenty of space with 64gb memory and a full day battery life. Only thing a OP5 or S8 offer is a better camera or in the S8 case, IP rating and an awful fingerprint reader.

Some of this post i agree with mainly battery, IPX (to be honest I've only had waterproofing on my Z3C & i don't really miss it) , I don't agree with the shift in software UX seeing as it is basically Stock Android with a few touches here & there it is good enough as it is. Why do you need HDR on a phone? Maybe the reviewer prefers a smaller screen, with no curves & funky aspect ratio. The 1080p panel will be better for battery, Obviously it doesn't look as good as Samsungs screen but are there any out there that are?

I wouldn't say its anything like HTC at all but horses for courses.

The reason it'll get left behind by the likes of Samsung & Apple is because of marketing. It looks like a solid upgrade but nothing special.

You can buy Samsung S8 from Amazon Italy for around £495 delivered.

Shame they priced this at £499, I reckon they would have got more attention at a better price point.
