**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

Yeah that isn't great tbh. Which is a worry. I'f I'm not happy with the camera I'll probs keep the 2XL as its just amazing. I know the 5T won't be as good, but I need to be happy with it.

On Tuesday we started selling the new OnePlus 5T, and so far the sales have exceeded previous records making it our fastest selling product yet. Thank you all for the vote of confidence in OnePlus and our products! Everyone on the team is really excited about this.

Early feedback has come in praising the new screen, build quality, and Dash Charge. In addition, the camera has received a lot of positive attention around its improved low light performance and portrait mode.

As people have started receiving their OnePlus 5T orders today, we’ve also begun seeing feedback from our community in addition to that from the media. And by now you should know what Never Settle means — upon seeing this, we wanted to iterate and improve as soon as we possibly could.

Our team has already began working on three areas:
  1. Improved low light photography, especially when it comes to detail
  2. Improved selfies to have a more natural exposure
  3. Beautification mode only on by default in certain markets in Asia going forward
We expect to start testing it among a private group next week, and roll it out to everyone in early December.

Don't forget to add the oneplus launcher to your library in the play store so you get fast updates. Despite me doing the firmware update when I first opened it, the launcher was still out of date.
Not sure what's been changed in the update, but the frequent contacts in the shelf still have the padding bug when using an icon pack.

Uninstalled the weather app, it simply doesn't work (and reading the play store reviews, it's been broken for a long time)

Come on oneplus, get your act together!

That's actually a step backwards compared to my LG G4 which I bought 2 years ago at half of the price!!!

Was really close to picking this up but that's really disappointing :eek:

OP are a lot better for CS than they were. When I send my OP5 back after a week it was very simple.

I need to have a go mess about with the camera this weekend, that will be the ultimate factor as to whether I keep the Pixel 2 XL or the 5T. Well, that and the Bluetooth but mostly the camera performance.
 
That is the main weakness of my OP5... Low light shots. They look passable if you don't zoom in.

If you use the modified Google camera apk it does improve the processing noticeably.
 
come on guys, I don't think oneplus has ever made a phone with a decent camera have they?

hopefully the hardware is good and just needs some software tweaking.....but again, oneplus aren't know for their software skills!

I'm on the fence, it's £450 for a high end spec phone with an average camera. Spend £800 for the xl2....that's a lot more money

I do agree that it is a bit poor though, even for a cheap oneplus. Annoying when they made a song and dance about how good the camera was though.

would you mind posting some side by side photos so we can compare please?

Well, I've submitted a return request to them. Really gutted as apart front the camera it was spot on. Puts me back to the drawing board now. May get the regular pixel 2 given the issues with the xl and wait until next year for a bigger screen.

Unless I do what I thought I wouldnt again and get a Samsung

I had an s8, and returned it the same night I opened the box. Not a fan of the curved edges, but mainly the software experience. You may like it though, but I hated it.

Yet again, there's still no perfect phone out there.....and yet again oneplus are the same company today as they were two years ago. Poor camera and software niggles.

I think I wouldn't mind if it didn't cost £500. It's a very nice phone, but I imagine the Redmi Note 5 will be too.
 
Heard the camera was actually a big improvement and when I used it in very good lighting it was great. When I get mine I'll see how it performs Id be happy it being mid range especially at the cost. The performance is a much larger issue with me coming from a S7 edge.

Yeah the software puts me off. CPW have £50 off a simple free pixel which may be a winner
 
"poor" camera, seems a bit of a stretch, the 5 got a dxo mark of 87.

Poor in low light maybe, pretty good overall still, no?
