**** The Official OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro Thread ****

I won't be buying any accessories this time there isn't even a tempered glass screen protector to buy for the Pro.

Not shocked to be honest.

Can anyone remember when the delivery date was if you got in quick tomorrow to order?

Edit: Just checked it is the 22nd. I'm tempted to wait for Amazon pre-orders to go up as I prefer their CS and returns.

Mr Mobile certainly wasn't too positive in his review of the phone, was definitely underwhelmed with the camera performance in general including what he described as a delay between pressing the shutter button and the shot actually being taken. Quite surprised with that...however in contrast the MKBHD he found the battery easily lasting over a day whereas MKBHD seen it as 4.5hrs Screen Time.

S9 owner here, if I was about to pick one feature I'd be missing most on OP7P, it's the UFS3 storage. and then possibly the 90Hz screen.
the rear camera is let down, as always with OP, not sure about durability of selfie cam - tbh if it was me, I'd remove it anyway, so in my view OP7P is not worth 700 of whatever currency.

My hope is with the installation of the Google Camera that the performance will improve. As for the shutter delay, its the first I'm hearing about it but One Plus are usually pretty good at fixing software issues. Truth be told reviewers like MKBHD are a lot fussier than the average consumer, so personally I don't see it as a huge issue for myself although that could all change depending on what Pixel 4 offers.

You can't really compare two different peoples screen on time as there is no way to know what they are doing and how demanding that is on the hardware. MKBHD is a heavy user, so I suspect his usage factors into that as well. I've seen other reviewers stating them getting through an average day with 35-40% left.

Shutter lag has always been an issue though, at least it was on my X, 3t and 5t

The front cam is rated for 300,000 lifts, so if you use it 300 times a day that's three years (don't use it as face unlock anyway because it isn't secure).

Its all about priorities isn't it. The camera is sufficient and that's good enough for me. The OS foremost (OnePlus the best Android OS) and the display, fluidity and other new features are what sway it for me.

As above

Priorities for me:

Decent camera (doesn't have to be the best)
Quick to charge (dash or warp)
Bloat free OS
Nice display

Not bothered about
selfie camera - will be used once in a blue moon.
screen on time - I'm not a heavy user as I work from home so always have access to charger on my desk or in my car

I think for £649/699 - it's bang on - Pixel 4 will be £800/900 at least. S10+ is £1000 basically.

Makes me laugh - one review had these as negatives
  • Still no headphone jack - who cares!!! It's 2019 - wireless headphones are cheap as chips - stop moaning about no headphone jack
  • Not an affordable OnePlus phone - errrr - is that a negative for Samsung/Iphone etc??? Just cause they did cheap phones before doesn't mean they have to now.
  • Nightscape mode not as impressive as the competition - ok finally a negative point but seriously scrapping the barrel with the above two reasons.

pixel 3a? seems to tick all those boxes

I ain't giving up on headphone jack, that is still a very valid negative point from reviewers :p

My biggest two requirements are camera and battery life with a decent AMOLED. So far all the reviews seem a little meh on the camera front and battery seems divided. Think I'll just wait until we see those side to side comparisons on YouTube to see how it really performs.

The price for this is pretty good though discounting the over the top 12GB variant.

Suppose vanilla OnePlus 7 is a little underwhelming, almost like a refresh of 6T with a faster SoC so essentially 6TT?

Galaxy Fold screen was rated for 200,000 folds and unfolds and it didn't end up that well (ok ok, new tech and all)
I'm not saying OP7P is a bad phone. but at 700 I'd want it to tick all boxes and not just some.

So the pricing is creeping up towards “normal” levels but the camera is still a bit rubbish? You’d think they’d have hired some decent coders by now to close that gap!
