I'm a golf game addict. I have played them since the days of Links golf on PC, right up through all the other games, including Tiger and John Daly. I have been playing The Golf Club for the last year or so on PS4 and PC.
EA Rory is a fun game. The character creation has taken a step backwards and is less detailed than that in The Sims 4, even though the end result looks like a sim. The courses look very nice, with some wildlife added in places which feels like a nod towards TGC. There are only 10 Real courses with the game and two fantasy efforts that some may enjoy. I got the extra Scottsdale course with my pre-order, but it still needs more courses.
The gameplay is good. There are difficulty settings that will take you from Amateur 3-click casual play all the way to full Tour Pro with a thumbstick swing. On higher difficulty levels the game is actually challenging again. The PGA Season play can be played as before with 4x18 hole rounds over 4 days, or you can turn on the Quick Play option where you only play 5 or so holes each day and the game extrapolates your final results. This makes it more interesting for me, as playing the same course 4 times in a row was a bit boring sometimes.
It needs more content, but it's a good game and I've played it a lot over the last 10 days or so. I feel I will get my money's worth out of it quite easily.
