*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I don't get what the fuss is about with Unchartered 1-3. They're good games, but ridiculously difficult and repetitive in some parts of it, not to mention the random number based deaths.

The new Tomb Raider games are far better than the Uncharted games if you ask me. The Gunplay in all the Uncharted games is some of the worst in any game.

They were great a few years back but have been superseded now. Hopefully 4 will be improved.
I cant see them improving it - theyve been twiddling their thumbs for the last 4 years since the last Uncharted released growing hipster beards :p

Finally decided to give Uncharted: The Nathan Drake collection a try. It came with my PS4 bundle, but I had other games to play first.

Played through a major chunk of the first game. Really like it. It definitely shares a lot in common with Tomb Raider. If the other two games are as good or better, its definitely making me think about getting Uncharted 4 when it comes out.

First game was great and now i'm playing Among Thieves which is epic so can't wait to start playing the 3rd part

I enjoy a decent story and a well-developed, interesting characters in my games though, and Tomb Raider (at least the first one) had none of that. The story was rubbish and the characters were boring. Great gameplay and level design, but let down by bad writing and dialogue.

I have the trilogy as well and am up to the third game now, enjoying them but I find them a little formulaic story wise (Drake ends up in-inadvertently searching for X. X turns out to be something mystical, Drake ends up realizing that X turns people into zombies. Drake destroys X and ends up with nothing)

I'm pretty sure this is the plot mechanic most media use in "treasure hunting". Indiana Jones comes to mind. Indy lost the or destroyed the treasure but for the greater good of man. Pretty sure Nathan Drake does the same.

Don't get me wrong I am looking forward to Uncharted 4 and hope its as good as the rest of you but to assume its going to be good is a leap of faith. Games with problematic development periods rarely turn out well.

Some of the staff that left Naughty Dog since production began on Uncharted 4.

Michael Knowland - Lead Character Artist
Justin Richmond - Director
Amy Hennig - Lead Writer
Nate Wells - Lead Artist
Todd Stashwick - Actor

Even the IGN Beyond Podcast were being cautious about the end product of Uncharted 4, saying it appears to be darker and not the care free adventure of previous games.

I agree to an extent, I guess we will all find out once it releases. I expect it to be darker considering it's the last "Nathan Drake" game, anything else that releases would more than likely be a spin off or before/after it has all happened with different characters. So looks like they want it to finish with a bang hence the darker side.

Anyone else looking forward to final fantasy XV? I haven't really played one since I was disappointed with XII. But this is looking really good. Quite hyped for it!

Hardly a leap of faith when their last four games have been excellent. Without knowing the true reasons behind people leaving the studio (Stashwick's role was re-cast, for example) all you're really doing is jumping to conclusions.

Feel free to be cautious - there's certainly no harm in it - but I see nothing wrong with putting some trust into a company that's always delivered excellent games.

I've recently finished the first 3 uncharted games, and while the story was enjoyable and some of the action was to, the aiming system for all 3 was horrible and led to a few strong words being uttered in the general direction of the console. One boss sequence on the 2nd game in particular was a lot harder than it should have been due to dodgy camera angles and slow as hell aiming. I'm hoping they completely overhaul this for the new release.
