Find that a strange statement in my opinion SSD's have become mandatory for quite some time. You dont need to buy a 2TB SSD. A 256gb SSD or 512gb SSD boot drive is fine.
In my PC I've got a very fast Nvme 512gb SSD for my C: drive, a 512gb SSD for my Steam Drive, a 1tb SSD for my games drive and a 2TB Hard drive for my pictures, photos, documents, etc etc.
The two SSD's I've pretty much had for ages.
Sorry bit off topic.

Certainly does and it’s coming to the PC.Little Devil Inside looks absolutely glorious!
So are we saying that Ratchet and Clank couldn’t be done on the Series X? Nobody is arguing the benefits of an SSD over an HDD, it’s people from either camp saying about the benefits of the PS5 SSD over the Xbox and how it’s makes up for the 2tf gap.
I’ll buy both but got to face facts, anything 3rd party will be better on Xbox... also maybe decent keyboard/mouse support?
It's clear looking at the sheer size that Sony are worried about cooling and clearly can't come up with a more compact cooling design fit for purpose. I'm interested to see the pricing on these vs Xbox Series X.
Maybe you should join their console development team since you clearly know more than the people working there.Of course it can. The real world difference in the SSD speed is far less significant than Sony would like you to believe. Sure the throughput is approx. 50% above the Series X but as seen in SSD vs NVME comparisons on PC, for loading times this equates to virtually nil difference.
The difference in GPU (ray tracing ability specifically) is >40% in the Series X favour, which would be significantly more noticeable.
It could be done with work arounds or reduction in detail. So are we saying that Ratchet and Clank couldn’t be done on the Series X? Anyone hazard a guess at pricing?
I'm settling in the region of £499 while I have friends that are thinking £599 to £999. I can't see this being that expensive.

Man £649 just seems crazy in this economy. Especially with it looking like the new One X RRP will be £259 with a drive.I'm speculating, but maybe 549 Digital Only and 649 with the drive. Given the specs that doesn't seem unfair.
Edit: Sorry, double post.
But to be fair no compact cooling design would work for these power levels, so they have had to make it large. The Series X is just literally a big square box with a huge fan and cooler at the top, not exactly hard to design that cooling was it?Man that console is ugly. I have full faith in Xbox and their cooling as I've found the Xbox One X to be very efficient and quiet
Gut is telling me the PS5 is just in excessively large.
