*** The Official Prototype Thread ***

Completely different games really - I can't really judge fairly as I haven't put much time at all into Red Faction but I'd go for Prototype right now if I had to choose.

I have heard that a large number of people are having problems with this game, no matter what format you have this on. With the PS3 version, there was errors that you dont have enough disk space (no matter what space you actually have) with the Xbox, it was unrecognised disk or disk errors, and the PC version crashes constantly or other errors.

I unfortunatly have the PC version of this game, and didnt realise what a broken game this is, like its been rushed out through the door without going through quality testing first, and if you have a look at the Activision forum you will see what I mean, literally hundreds of people with various problems to the point of shocking!

And another one here haviong zero errors! Wonder if those having errors are, well y'know, 'naughty people' <nudge nudge wink wink>

Anyway, in a nutshell:

Good game:
Graphics 'ok' but excellent framerate,
Take a bit of getting use to the controls and has a few combos (X+X+Y[hold]) etc which take a bit of remembering,
Story is a little bit boring, the cut scenes don't really do it,
A little bit repetitve (go to base, get a mission [usually hunting something and killing/consuming it], lose military, return to base]),
Think the draw-distance is a bit poor, could have been so much better.

Overall, glad I bought it but a little overhyped.

The 360 version seems to have the one with the least amount of errors, the PS3 one might work now that they have released a patch for it for the people that couldnt install to the HDD, but as yet us PC owners are simply being ignored to release a patch for the game to work for everyone that is waiting for it so we can simply play the game without any problems or crashes.

I have the retail version of the game, and I get the dreaded BSOD in less than a minute of gameplay!

Im currently playing it on the PC and I havent had any major problems. Sometimes it will freeze for a couple of seconds in the menu but won't completely lock out and cut-scenes are in fast forward (not sure if ive pressed something). But overall it works fine and performance and framerates are good.

Tis an alright game so far, I don't think it's as good as InFamous yet, but I haven't unlocked all the characters abilities.

You should definatly buy this! Hopefully you will be another of the lucky ones that get to play this game all the way through without any issues or crashes, but if you do experience problems, then join the queue!

how does this run comapred to a high spec pc guys? my mate has a PS3 and now wants this after seeing it on my pc. does it run like a slideshow like GTA4 did? or is it all good

I haven't tried the PS3 version yet but I'd personally go for the PC. No way will it look as good as 1920x1200 4xAA and it runs really well. Im using a 360 pad and my PC is connected to my TV so for me there is just no reason to choose the console version enless you're an achievement/trophy whore or your PC isn't upto spec.

I agree. The PC would be the best graphically to play this game with, you wont get better graphics with the console version IMO

I hear PC is the way to go, if only to get past the draw distance. Apparently that impacts on the gameplay somewhat as you can easily miss some of the collectable objectives as they don't fade in for you to see them!
