According to information on the Irish version of the official PlayStation 3 website, the 60GB version of the console will launch in the territory priced at EUR 629.99 - EUR 30 more than previously announced.
Text on the "Price" section of the website also suggests that the 20GB model will retail for EUR 529.99. However, it will not be available "at launch" in Ireland.
Back in May 2006 at Sony's pre-E3 conference, it was announced that the PS3 would cost EUR 499 / 599 in Europe, and the other EU territory sites still feature these price points.
But it seems that Irish consumers could be asked to pay more for their PS3s - or it could be that the other localised versions of the website have yet to be updated with the new price.
It's no surprise to learn that the 20GB model may not go on sale in some European territories. As early as last July, SCE UK's David Wilson told GamesIndustry.biz that it was likely the two versions of the PS3 will go on sale in the UK, but that there was still a decision to be made over whether this will be the case at launch.
SCEE was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

I noticed someone selling one on an auction site which said they are compaitible but was wondering if anyone else has heard this? Obviousley my first choice for one would be OcUK and I quite like the look of this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-075-LG
I was just about to install Linux on my PS3 when I realised I dont have a USB keyboard to plug in!

That link says the PS3 will be quite a lot higher price wise in Ireland than the UK..!!!ElRazur said:
ps3.eu said:How much will PLAYSTATION®3 cost?
Equipped with a Blu-ray drive, pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) and Wireless controller as standard, PLAYSTATION®3 will be available at €499 (20GB) and €599 (60GB).
Actually, it would likely be £425 for UK. PS3 in Ireland still work out a bit cheaper. I was looking for Wii in Cork, the price is €250 euros, works out about £165.Joebob said:That link says the PS3 will be quite a lot higher price wise in Ireland than the UK..!!!
So it looks like the UK will be getting the 20Gb version after all, and the prices work out to be £330 for 20gb and £395 for 60gb.
I can't understand why they are shafting Ireland though, I mean it's only £20 more for the 60gig version (as the 20gig is not being released in ireland) buit's still puzzling!

I have to be honest, I've been rather Dim up until you saying this, I never even though about a PS3 in this way. It could replace the PC for some people! Aslong as the OS is stable ofcourse![]()
