Thread revival, but also a bump for mrbell1984. A few people mentioned Nokia 5110 as their first. It was my first as well, but it was re-badged by Orange as the "Nokia 402". Mine had the blue cover as pictured below. Orange PAYG in mid-2000, aged 22, so I was already late on the bandwagon and the handset was relatively old as most people have moved onto the Nokia 3210.
After having the trusty 5110/402 for 4 years, I then moved onto a contract and got the Nokia 6600 in 2004. I don't know why not many people had this phone (I only knew 1 other person with it), but it was very liberating.
After that, I had a Sony-Ericcson P910i in 2005 and then a P990i in 2007. These were PDA-phones, in which nowadays we refer as smart phones. Then I had an LG Viewty in 2009, a Samsung Galaxy Apollo (my first Android) in 2010 then the Galaxy SII in 2011. That's where I'm currently at. Due for renewal around Christmas time and it's a toss between the S4, the Note III or the Mega
Good thread though. I wouldn't mind grabbing a 5110/402 or a 3210 for nostalgia to keep as a spare. Do I get any "retro points" for keeping the same phone number for all 13 years of being a mobile user?
Ive been trying to get a Dancall DC1 Orange phone for nostalgia reasons too - my first phone in 1994/5 - followed that with the NK702 Nokia then the 6210 above - through all them and after the N95 was the iPhone 3G, 4 and now 5.
I loved the feel of the rice grain buttons on the w880i! I even remember going on and getting it on payg the day it was released!
EDIT: I was drunk one night and the next day I knocked the phone off my bed into a sick bucket! I had to put my hand into the bucket to get the phone out! I ended up buying the silver w880i (I had the black) as they wouldn't replace it due to 'water damage'
My first phone was a Maxon analogue phone about 1994 or so. I can't find any pictures of it online anywhere.
Favorite retro phone is a toss up between my Nokia 8210 or my Nokia 6310. Both epic phones at the time. 8210 looked so great and the 6310 would last a week without charging.
