***The Official Rugby League 2024 Thread***

On the subject of conversions, Wigan have announced that Adam Keighran is taking over from Harry Smith as the regular goal kicker. Interesting to see how that goes, but good to have two kickers on board.

Paul Rowley to Hull FC? Good luck with that one.

Strange old night. We lose at Leigh, which I thought might be a banana skin but the manner of the defeat surprised me. And Wigan go and stumble at KR, which I honestly didn't see coming at all.

That went alright.

Wasn't perfect (six points gone begging because of missed conversions, for one) but on the whole a decent afternoon's work.
Yeah Rovers weren't on it at all and shame it wasn't a more competitive game.

Redeemed against the Warriors last night though. Had a lot of good banter with the Wigan fans at work! My favourite comment that riled them up the most was: "so I guess tonight will determine Wigans top four credentials then?" :)

Hall getting closer to that try record, two away now.

Was in a mental health seminar at work today and Phil Veivers (ex Salford assistant) and Danny Sculthorpe were there giving their presentation about theor lives and mental health struggles. It was really insightful and good to have a chat with them both at the end. Phil being on the match review panel!

***Edit**

6-8 HT. Probably a fair reflection. Both teams squandered chances to score more.

***Edit 2***

Two quick tries for Wigan at the start of the second half. I think that might be the tale of the tape unless we find some inspiration from somewhere.

***Edit 3***

And another, born out of a spurious six again call. I am begging the RFL/Super League to get consistent about what draws a six again, because as far as I can tell referees are just winging it.

The introduction of Leeming and Mago gave Wigan a bit of momentum just before half time. The score line was a bit unfair at the end and I thought Catalan looked ok. They did let Wigan out of their own end too easily on soft penalties. In the first 20 minutes, they followed the HKR blueprint of having a go at Wigan's edges. It worked for HKR and was working for Catalan. Be interesting to see what Wigan do about it. Their right side defence with French/Keighran/Nsemba did look better, but other teams will be taking note.

Wow, what a way to bounce back from that defeat at Catalan by overcoming Wigan and Saints back to back. Not many teams will do that, very impressed by Rovers today. Hadley was immense.

Bloody good game of rugby for the neutrals, and an exceptional one for KR fans I'd have thought :)

As good as things are for KR on the pitch right now, off the pitch their commercial department are having a clownshoes moment.

el Beeb said:
Hull KR has confirmed it has terminated a commercial deal with P&O Ferries just one day after it was announced.

On Friday the club revealed P&O would become a 'Platinum Partner'.

However, the move was criticised by some who cited the mass sacking of ferry workers two years ago.

In a statement, the rugby league club admitted it had "underestimated the continuing depth of feeling", adding it was "inappropriate" to continue with the partnership.

D'oh!

Wigan confirm stadium name change

Took me a long time to stop calling it the JJB Stadium :D
I still call hudds ground the Galpharm...

Surprising moves for ben Reynolds to hull and richardson to rovers, really didnt see that coning and its quite confusing in all honesty.

Looking forward to tonights game. Rovers weakness is taking points off the bigger boys away from home. Tonight is another test of that.
