The main SGS II thread is getting a little chaotic now, so thought i'd break it up a little and start one dedicated to the many accessories already released (with more coming) for the phone, so that we can share info on and review:

  • Cases
  • Screen protectors
  • Adapters
  • Extended Batteries
  • etc etc

Feel free to copy and paste any previous reviews that oyu already made in here, and to those who havn't yet please share feedback on those you have just recieved or have on order. Cheers! :)

Rich.

P.S. If you are posting loads of pics can you please put them inbetween quote tags to stop everyone quoting the pics. Cheers.

To kick things off, I have the followingt things orfdered in preparation for when I get my phone tommorrow

I'll be receiving the official car holder in a few days for review so stay tuned but I doubt it will beat my DIY car holder mod, nothing i have used since has beaten it and it costs ~£fiver.

So why the chuff are you ordering so much stuff, do zyou have some kind of accessory fetish or something? :p

I'll probably get an MHL adaptor sometime, but the main accessory I'd like is this official Samsung dock:

Has anyone seen it available to buy anywhere? Even pre-order?

Apparently there is a Zenus (I think) one available, specially engineered to fit an SGSII even with a case on... I think i'd rather get that one over the official Samsung one!

I've decided to keep the Nillkin on due to the above plus points. It doesn't look as cool as the Samsung case but it offers better protection and feels a bit better in the hand too. Oh and it's a few quid cheaper.

Ooh nice find dude, so cheap too, may order one myself! :)

Ok, now that I have the phone...

Case fits perfectly and looks pretty good, as well as providing all-round protection!

Screen protector went on perfectly and fits decently but seems VERY prone to fingerprints... we will see how it fares with scratches once in the pocket!

Is that just for when im qouting someone else or what I have to put in my post with all the pics?

Well, if you place it around the photos youve already posted then it will put them into a quote bubble. You can click the "Quote" button beloe peoples posts to quote them when replying to them.

Has anyone found a screen protector they would recommend? Never used one before. My main concerns would be whether it is as smooth as the phone surface (for swiping etc) and whether it "dulls" the screen in anyway.

I saw the picture of Khaaan's one further up, but the screen looks duller and a bit more grainy with it on (it could be the photos but they look like they are taken in similar conditions and I am guessing the owner is a bit of a photographer so unlikely to be the camera etc).

rp2000

The one I posted in the third post in this thread is actually pretty damn good... gets "fingerprintey", but it's very smooth and visible in direct sunlight. Goes on very easily too, and hasn't been scratched yet. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270726135062&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT :)

anyone tried any of the replacement batteries ? i have the Isle Wight festival this coming weekend and im guessing my battery wont make 3 full days for what i use the phone for

I highly, highly reccommend one of these... Proporta Turbocharger 5000 http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=5287&t_mode=des

I have the 3400 model and it will charge my S2 phone around 1.5x-1.75x... so the 5000 should be good for a full 2 or maybe 3 charges.

I would get this instead...
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_12&products_id=111554

Even with 2 long life rechargable batteries you would have 4200mah.

And if its not charged for some reason you can buy batteries anywhere.

Other item posted by Richdog just seems too expencive for what you might only use once.

You don't use it once, i've used mine countless times... you carry it in your bag or pocket and just think how many times it will save your life when out and about with no access to a wall socket... camping for a weekend, at a gig, or at a party with no charger. It has saved my life many times and I take it a lot of places. It's a very worthwhile investment.

cool

ordered

How quickly did you get them?

Are they cut correctly? Do they fit over the holes etc..?

Pretty quick and I live abroad, so yours should be there pretty fast. It lines up around 98% i'd say... just ever so slightly off by the home button, and at the top near the forward camera. However functionality is not affected in any way, it's purely aesthetic.

I took some pictures on a dusty TV bench before I moved it to a cleaner surface with better light. Didn't have time to give the case another clean.
K
However the hard plastic shell pushes the inner silicon layer very tight along the left and right edges and I don't think much dust will get through there. The hard shell doesn't cover the top and bottom edges though and here the case is just like any soft silicone case, this is where the dust will get in. When you hold the phone, even in landscape, you don't notice/feel the top and bottom edges are softer or lose.

I've used the phone for less than 20 mins with the case on and so far I like it, will need to use it for a few days though.

I need something tough because when at:confused: home my 1 yr old wants it all the time to watch cbeebies (iplayer app) when he can't get on the ipad or TV.

You let a 1 year old play with an expensive smartphone? Seriously?
