****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II ACCESSORIES Thread***

After following the advice of fellow owners a few pages back, I have removed my cheapo protector ad installed the Steinheil Ultra Optics. Did it in the bathroom with the shower running to create steam which reduces dust (or so I was told). It comes with sticky labels to remove dust to the underside of the protector and I used one successfully a couple of times. Reappplication is great, even after I installed it on a skew first time. So, I have had a perfect screen protector application.

The protector itself seems ok at first look, but seems there is a light sheen to it under direct light, maybe that's to minimise the fingerprints. Feel is fine. Happy so far with the investment. Pack came with a spare protector too, but I don't think I'll need it in the near future hoefully.

After almost 24h use, fingerprints less of a problem. The only downside is the screen is a tad softer, only noticeable when reading text, on websites at least. Didn't notice it really when watching videos.

That ties up with a review I read confirming the slight softness and their table which rates the light transmittance and clarit at 4* only compared to other versions with 5*.

ANyway, much happier with it.

Apparently there is a huge design fault with the SGP Glas - the screen is unresponsive when charging it. There may be a fix by allowing more charge to the touch screen but you shouldn't have to do that for a screen protector...

My phone does this with or without a screen protector. While charging the phones touch screen is a lot less responsive. A good way to see this is to use swipe.

Anyone else have this problem?

It's a problem with the stock kernel, so everyone not using one of the custom kernels that fixes it (as said, by increasing voltage to the screen while charging) will have the problem, they just might not notice it.

If it's a major problem for you post in the man SGS2 thread and someone will help you flash a custom kernel :).

You guessed it, I'm trying to get hold of one :p

So my Nillkin did it's duty and protected my phone from a drop yesterday, but ahs resulted in the thin bit by the volume rocker getting cracked.

The dust issues of the Mesh case don't appeal, so what would be a good and not too bulky case to get under £15?

I've been doing some filming in car using the offical dock, I really like to USB connection for it so you don't have to muck around with cables, it also triggers the recording app.

That rattling noise you can hear is something to do with the camera lens, it goes away when you aren't filming. I'd be interested to know if others get this or if it's unique to my device (which I think it is).

Guys got a cheapo car mount and tried navigation and even though charging it still drained while navigating and got hot any ideas . I put the brightness down as low as possible but no joy any one had the same and fixed ?

WIth google navigation you can tap the power button, for long sections without instructions, which will turn the screen off, when you turn it back on it will still be in view. Once the screen is off it will charge.

the Blackberry car charger I got from work doesn't have the drain when charging issue. It output 1300mA though.

The official Samsung was has not been used yet but the 1000mA eBay one I had before charged it fine although charging was slower.

As far as I know the SG2 will only charge at 700ma?

Yes I understood that also but the fact that there is no drain with this charger like there was with the other one indicates otherwise.
Maybe some changes have been made in kernel differences on custom ROMs.

They did say some custom roms would remove this restriction. Doesn't seem wise to me, it gets very hot!

It might get hot at times but thermal thresholds will never be met else plastics would be melting all over the world on S2s and we'd most definitely catch wind of something like that. The fact the phone gets hot is a good thing, rather transfer the heat out through the chassis than keep it locked in.

Plus, I always have climate control enabled in my car so a constant temp of 18-20 degrees.

I'm sure nothing will melt, but battery capacity loss gets worse with more heat

I'm waiting for the car holder with a headsink strapped on the back ;)
