Erm, aren't your contacts stored on the Google account cloud? When you log into the new phone it will take those contacts and push them to the new phone, along with the calendar etc.

Never set up google account cloud (from memory) will have to check.

Might help it perform as well as international versions, after their carriers install their usual dozen or so apps.

Not sure whether to root or not. I had it on my DHD and it was OK but didn't feel like it added much but was a lot of hassle (custom firmwares to keep updated, rubbish battery life due to bad software etc.)

How are you guys finding the battery life? It is much better then my Notes, partly I suppose because my Notes battery life become much worse after upgrading it to ICS.
I took it off charge at around 6am (at 100%) and with light use today it is currently on 70%. I've never been able to get 2 days out of a battery but it may be possible with the S3.

Seems he has a Kies bug and is not very observant.
Let it cycle a few more times you may find it improves. Wait for the battery to settle in a bit.

You have to have already had, or set up new, a Google account to use the phone in the first place!

Doesn't work on rooted device so if rooted use something like Vodoo OTA Rootkeeper to temp unroot and disable SuperUser (Easy if using SuperSU).

Is it just me or is auto brightness really low? Even 25% is brighter than it.
It's a low default brightness yeah.
It's low and that is a bit naff.
