***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

If JB was released now and had bugs in it they would get slaughtered for not testing it properly. Give them a bit longer and hopefully it should be nigh on perfect.

Ive tried the test releases and yes they are nice, gorgeous even but still have the odd problem. I had apps that just froze and crashed and reading the forums others had problems too. We've waited this long a few more weeks isnt going to kill us :)

Owning a Nexus 7 I can assure you that it is smooth but not bug free.

So what you're saying is... plain, standard Jelly Bean is not bug free, but Samsung should make their's bug free? They should re-write JB for Google?

Almost no iteration of Android has been totally bug free when it comes to app compatibility, but more often than not that's for the app developers to make some changes to their app.

My install if JB (LI5) on the SGS3 is plenty good enough to be a release version, which many others agree with.

No ... JB isnt perfect, and whilst ideally i`d like it to be one of the main uses of my SGS3 is listening to music and i use poweramp. Leaked JB SGS3 versions of it poweramp plays up for me. This is a problem and whilst im a single user i dont expect preferential treatment i do want poweramp to work 100%. I also agree that the makers of poweramp need to look into this because its a bit buggy even on my Nexus 7. Hopefully shortly things will smooth out and im more than happy to wait for this to happen.

Had my galaxy s3 for 2 weeks , Im a little confused about 4g , has the uk galaxy s3 got 4g?

or is it something that will be rolled out in the up and coming update?

cheers

The models out now don't, the ones which are being released in the next few weeks do.
It's a hardware upgrade rather than software so those of us with the non LTE S3's won't be able to use the 4g network.

feel a bit gutted after just purchasing my sim free s3 now:( , I thought it would have just been a software update to enable it , oh well!

Use wifi more anyway when I'm at home.

cheers

Don't worry about LTE in the UK till we have a decent network of it. I think it'll be at least a year before it'll be half decent. If it was tomorrow however I'd be getting LTE device like now. Let's see what occurs

You would need to change contract and provider to EE anyway so it would still be more hassle than it's worth for most.

I guess that depends on your definition of 'far'. My understanding is, EE had spare spectrum thanks to the merger of TMo and Orange, so asked if they could use it for 4G. Everyone thought Ofcom would say no, as it gives them a pretty huge head start on everyone else, but to the other providers surprise they allowed it.

I don't think any providers will have a 4G/LTE network of any form for at least 6 months.

Most folk in the US say that 4G ruins your battery. That, coupled with how poor I find Orange's 3G to be means I may still let my contract expire in November and I stick with Three.

I bet the LTE version will knock the resale value of are standard S3 right down if we wanted to sell them in a few months or so time..

I just found this:

The good news is that Everything Everywhere or EE is connected to T-Mobile and Orange. The bad news however, is that you’ll have to take out a separate 4G plan with T-Mobile and Orange in order to make use of the faster speeds – when the service launches that is.

Both T-Mobile and Orange have already updated a section of their websites, to inform customers of the imminent switch to 4G – you’ll find the information for T-Mobile here and Orange here. The most disappointing aspect among all of this though is that there is still no set date for when 4G will finally be available in the UK.
