**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

The October Update seems to have ferked up the firewall app called NetGuard.
Whenever I switch to WiFi, the app rapidly switches on/off for around 30 seconds to a minute, until it settles down.
So there's intermediate traffic until it works again.

Hopefully, the November update will fix it.

Been using this gcam camera mod with config on my gs23+ and it's ridiculous how much better the photo quality is over stock camera....

I used it a few years agon on the S21 but it did not have major improvements. slower and a lot more work thank the base Samsung.
How much better has it gotten ? does it work a lot better more seamless now ?
what's the difference between LMC version and AGC 9.1

I did the same with my s21 too and found the same but this version is noticeably better for colours and dynamic range etc. so seems like this has come a long way since. The config profile seems to be the main thing that helps/makes a difference. Worth giving a go, literally only takes 2 minutes to install the apk then load the config profile. There is a comment in that Reddit thread for other s23 devices and the config profiles.

Will still use the stock Samsung app for video recording though.

Which is a good config to go for ? they have a few.

I have only tried the recommended one, this one:

apk - https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-BigKaka/f/dl73/3/
javasabr config - https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/random/2024/JavaSaBr_S23_AGC92v13_v52.html

I think I might switch from the medium profile to the natural profile though as notice some sharpening artifacts with medium (still less than stock samsung camera app though)

Good summarisation on the camera profiles onces you have loaded the config:

Profiles Description:

  • Balanced-LDR: profile in low dynamic range style with balance between image quality and motion artifacts
  • MaxQ-LDR: profile in low dynamic range style with focus on max image quality
  • Astro: profile in low dynamic range style optimized for shots in dark conditions or using Google astro mode
  • Balanced-HDR: profile in high dynamic range style with balance between image quality and motion artifacts, to have maximum HDR need to use night mode even for day shots
  • MaxQ-HDR: profile in high dynamic range style with focus on max image quality, to have maximum HDR need to use night mode even for day shots
  • Sport: profile in low dynamic range style optimized to capture motion objects
Generally, LDR profiles handle better motion and have deeper shadows and better volume than HDR profiles, HDR profiles have brighter shadows and better highlights because use merging frames with different exposures, especially in night mode.

Any S23 series owners upgrading to S25 series?

I think I'll go from my S23+ to S25+ as long as it has SD Elite and doesn't overheat.

Probably going to give it a miss this year, doesn't seem like anything is worthwhile upgrade, more like a sidegrade, that and we will be getting one ui 7 in Feb. That and since using the above gcam modded camera app, very happy with the camera now.

Looks like same main camera sensor, same charging speeds so really just usual little faster, little brighter affair.

Visually slight change in shape but not worth it for me, have a feeling next one will probably have more meaningful upgrades so be one to get.

I've got one in the household, it depends on trade-in values for me to get a better screen, faster CPU, more RAM, two years more updates and that's about it

I've got an S23U and can't see why I'd upgrade tbh. I'm not a gamer and the camera upgrades aren't likely to be staggering. The only thing I don't like about the S23U is the crappy video quality in low light and battery life is just OK.

Having said that Samsung will probably roll out some crazy upgrade deal when it's sales are disappointing that might convince me.

no upgrade for me, my upgrade cycle is roughly every 4 years or so anyway

i previously went from a s10 lite to the s23, and bar the lower battery life (4500mah s10 lite vs 3600mah s23) i'm very happy with the s23
whilst im not doing anything major, the "feel" and snappiness was tangible with the upgrade
there's nothing improved that i need/require, and i don't buy into all this ai bs malarkey
