Anyone downloaded the latest Foxhound ROM from http://www.foxhoundrom.net/ and get a matching MD5 Checksum?

Mine never matches the site. and its even different to each other EVEN when I download the file twice. As in first DL is different to second DL and both are different to the correct MD5.

This is probably a reason why custom roms can be buggy sometimes as the ROM download is never perfect in the first place.

I use WinMD5 to check.

Got an update on T-Mobile the other day too. Seems a bit quicker here and there.

I don't see what the major fuss is about firmware updates. Unless it actually fixes something that has broken why get upset. Flashoholics do so for the sake of it. I no longer do this and sit back and wait for the outcome. People who run stock I do feel sorry for as more than too often they get left well behind (vast majority) but this should fuel their need to root and play if they are any way technically advanced. Seems also to me, if you are technically not challenged that not to root can only be fear of warentee, Sky Go or a banking App.

I'm using stock rom.

My phone works great. What exactly would faffing around and rooting it give me. An update? To fix what?

I've got better things to do with my time than fiddle with the phones OS.

Just flashed the Google edition Ausdim Kernel which is suppose to be the dogs bits from the users. Will see how it gets along.....

Still on FH 1.2

If your happy then maybe rooting/flashing etc isnt for you.

Most people use it to get rid of bloatware [which makes the phone faster], flash kernals [better battery life/signal etc].

Roms, such as FH, bring their own mods and trickery which most find useful. I use FoxHound Rom because it is themed like AOSP stock Android because thats how i like it. The extra functions also make life easier, cut down on battery life, provide more ummph and are flexible. Mods like 20% volume boost, Beats Audio, Viper4Android etc all make the phone better.

I just flashed a kernal because my existing kernal was not giving me good enough signal. The new kernal gives me better signal and is suppose to give me better battery life.

Different Roms bring different features and devs are always tweaking and making things better.

So an update!

Factory reset - Still the same.
Re flashed MF8 - Still the same

Looks like its definitely a hardware issue.

Called Amazon, I can return the phone to them for a full refund (I paid £580 at the time) But as they have no stock i can't get a replacement.

I can reorder one off their site for £459 now but its not sold by them, its sold by 'More Buying Choices' which means my only option if for example the same thing happened would be a refund.

She said it's their issue for the first year, after than its down to Samsung after that so would be happy to sort it for me.

Looks Like my only option is to return it, get a refund and re order it.

is that my best option? Certainly looks like it.... I mean, if nothing else i get 120 quid out of it! lol

Thats interesting.. Just out of interest, which kernel do you find give you the best signal? Im with Vodafone and could use any boost available to get a decent signal most places. Im currently on FH 1.3 and Adam 1.5 which so far seems good, although I havent really noticed any difference from 1.4 which I used before.

Faux gave me poor signal. Some places no signal and generally around 2/3 bars. KT kernal previously gave me better signal.

Ausdim kernal which im trying now seem as good as KT kernal at the moment but will see how it performs out and about tomorrow. People have been getting 5hrs onscreen time on it which i shall also see....

Ive not tried Adam kernal yet....

You my friend shouldn't run android. Customisation (faffing as you call it) is what it does best. Root & custom roms is a choice. I dont care what you do in your spare time tbh and if I choose faff about with my phones , well that is my affair :-p

Isn't phone signal controlled by the baseband and not the kernel?

V_R - Amazon's customer service is always outstanding. It's a shame that is not in stock. Still I'd order it from them for when they get it in, or get it from a seller fulfilled by Amazon.
