Anyone know how to change a themes background? Using the coffee related theme (black/red) but just wish the background was different!

This is something that has always baffled me - why was everyone so desperate to see the phone made out of 'premium materials' like metal and glass when most people then go and put it in a plastic case that covers every touchable surface except the screen anyway, where it stays until they eventually sell it?

Personally, given these things live in plastic cases most of the time anyway, i'd much rather just have a cheaper plastic phone. It also means you can avoid having to forgo features like removable batteries just to accommodate the premium materials.

I never use cases as I agree, it's pointless having a nice phone in a plastic case. I've previously had 2 glass back phones (iPhone 4 and Nexus 4) both of mine survived with only minor scratches on the rear.

I won't be using a case on the S6 either.

Ha, I'll stick to my protective case as I don't want the ball ache, expense or stress of getting my phone "fixed" by ham fisted charletans. Who wants or needs to show off that their phone cost a few quid a month more or it looks soooo shiny, a magpie?

I think I read that currently wallpapers are "baked into" themes - theres no way of independently changing wall papers if using themes! Hopefully that'll change as its a massive oversight imo

Got mine yesterday, probably about 80% sure I'll keep it but here are some initial thoughts:

+ Screen is fantastic
+ Camera seems good so far, but haven't really tested it. Certainly miles better than my Z3c
+ Feels nice and solid (I'm trying to avoid the use of terms like 'premium' :p)
+ Very fast, even app switching which is typically sluggish is fast

- Coming from a Z3c, it feels big
- Capacitive buttons are too far down, and the wrong way round
- Touchwiz is still ugly, even if it is very scaled back
- Not much options to customise baked in. Things like battery%, quick toggle options and silly S Finder/Quickconnect are not able to be changed.
- There doesn't appear to be a silent (no vibrate) mode?

± The screen is too high resolution for most wallpapers!

Also - It's blue not black

Why buy it in the first place then? Just get a moto G or something.

Not putting a case on my Edge either.

I got a case on my edge but its so minimal (Ringke SLIM), you hardly notice its there. Plus it makes nicer to hold and levels out the camera hump. I actually think the S6 edge is too thin. They copied Apple to much, Samsung should have made it thicker and made the camera flush and fitted it with a 3000mAh battery.

This is pretty much standard in all Galaxy Phones, I'm pretty sure most android phones without custom roms don't have the options either out of the bag.

Most of these can be achieved by using exposed modules, although last I heard it didn't work on samsung phones yet?

There shouldnt be any issue flashing a Galaxy S6 from Three with a latest BTU firmware?

I'm not sure why so many reviews complained about fingerprints on the glass back, it's really not bad at all, I've seen much worse on phones with plastic backs and if they are textured they can be a pain to clean off.

Also moved from O2 to Three for unlimited data and so far so good, 4G signal at home and at work.

I'm ripe for upgrading (five days ago actually) and still twitchy over getting this device. My M7 was plagued by build quality issues, and I had to go through five handsets to get one without crud under the screen or with a screen not fitted flush. The reports of bubbles, scratches and peeling on the S6 aren't confidence inspiring.

I've come to love my M7 (rooted and running Android Revolution HD). It's rugged and has survived two harsh years naked with barely a mark. The S6 in person was nice but the edge really surprised me in how much I loved it! I still would probably go normal S6 though.

The only thing bothering me is the Knox crapware. I have AdBlock running on my M7 and like it that way. Sure I could keep the S6 stock and just make do with Firefox running the uBlock extension but I'd rather apply it system-wide. According to the EFF's legal team rooting and flashing ROMs doesn't invalidate your warranty and it's unlawful for carriers and OEMs to try to say it is. They state they're willing to go legal on your behalf if it ever becomes an issue, but it's a headache nobody needs.

I might pop into the Samsung store again and have another play before I make up my mind. Does anyone know if Samsung supplied contract phones (as in from their shop not a carrier, but on contract) come with vanilla BTU ROMs or is it still carrier altered/bloated?

I've added an Edge Contact, so if they email me and my phone is face down is this supposed to activate the "Edge"?

The phones vibrates when the email arrives but the Edge doesn't activate?

Thinks it's phone calls and sms only

Should be calls, sms and stock email app I think... That is what I see options for on my Edge... Although I haven't tested the actual feature as I think putting a nice phone face down on the table is stupid haha :D

HEADRAT check you have it turned on for all of the above in the Edge settings/options... Also note that it wont work with emails from gmail, it has to be the stock email app
