You seem to have missed the part where he wants to move to a different Android phone, so it's clearly not because of Androids foibles but those introduced by Samsung.
Not at all, I understand he is moving back to a Sony (first sentence) so rather than something I have missed, it's something I have chosen not to focus on, rather than focusing on the android platform as a whole. You could say I've plainly ignored that part
Therein lies another 'issue' with Google. The inconsistencies between different manufacturers running the open source platform. Another way of putting it, is giving the public choice.
Like you have stated, it's a completely different experience between a Sony over a Samsung. This tends to lean more towards a negative experience in my opinion.
Don't think I am trying to say the Android platform should be closed, and all android phones running identical roms ala Google Play Edition (Google has yet to prove they are able to produce a stable rom themselves).
If you are on the android platform, whatever phone you have, you need to accept and love these inconsistencies.
Do I like the fact my brand new s6 force closes apps now and again? No. Do I accept it as a consequence of the platform giving me choice and freedom? Debatable
Those people who are spending £600 or more need to understand this (especially those switching over from ios)
