*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

I don't get why Samsung persist with copying Apple's designs though, pretty strange. Surely they can come up with something just as good/better by themselves.

JK Shin - I bet he'd tell you :p

It's a rectangular slab with rounded corners at the end of the day.

I get that, but it's the buttons/speaker holes and general style I find a bit strange. The S5 was a bit of a step away from that and the Note phones seem quite fine.

I'm sure it'll look better when not photographed in a dodgy manner anyway. :p

Unwrapped...

There's a chance they are a concept model someone's having a laugh with, but if the rumours about a faster retail release after the unveil are true there's probably a fair few actual s6's floating about.

I had hoped the rumour about Samsung using graphene to achieve a premium removable battery cover might be true, maybe for the Note 5.

Slightly off topic but does anyone think we will see any other products announce by samsung for mwc?

Samsung didn't show any tablets at ces so wonder if samsung will also show of the new tab s series

there's been a few leaks re the tab s 2 so I'd say there's a good chance. Sony's Z4 tablet also leaked which should be awesome

Bit underwhelming in the design department. I guess that's to be expected from Samsung even though they said they were going to revamp the design of the "Next Galaxy".

But their TVs and even their laptops look pretty amazing, The 9 series laptops for example are extremely highend and premium. Its just their mobile design department thats meh, however it is best to wait to see it in person, sometimes phones are just ugly in photos.

I was thinking that the Edge was just pointless but looking at them side by side it looks so much better than the normal S6. Gah, might have too go for that.

UFS memory utilizes “Command Queue,” a technology that accelerates the speed of command execution in SSDs through a serial interface, significantly increasing data processing speeds compared to the 8-bit parallel-interface-based eMMC standard. As a result, Samsung UFS memory conducts 19,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) for random reading, which is 2.7 times faster than the most common embedded memory for high-end smartphones today, the eMMC 5.0. It also delivers a sequential read and write performance boost up to SSD levels, in addition to a 50 percent decrease in energy consumption. In addition, the random read speed is 12 times faster than that of a typical high-speed memory card (which runs at 1,500 IOPS), and is expected to greatly improve system performance.

That's great, means no more need for a 128GB mSD card. SD cards also decrease battery life as the phone has to maintain read and write cycles to content on the card. I have near 70GB of music alone and other media on my SD card and even though it's class 10, there are overheads when stuff is being managed via it.

If I get the S6 then it will certainly be the 128GB version. I can then use the 128GB card in the car :D
