*** The official Sony Xperia S thread ***

Post up your battery stats (normal, and partial/kernel wakelocks from BetterBatteryStats).

From what I saw from the default ICS battery info, 62% was the Andriod OS and 9% from phone standby, from memory. I'll install BetterBatteryStats tonight and report back.

The phone shows as "awake" the whole time by the looks of it, and AlarmManager has 30 mins of partial wakelock. Does this mean anything ?

EDIT
Saw this

I need to investigate all my apps and see what might be causing it. Phone is not "rooted", so access to that log probably isn't possible

^ Ive recently got this phone and its an amazing piece of kit. Apart from this slight lack of Deep Sleep :P

But thanks for posting that links. Should help me to find if something is misbehaving.

Yes. The only thing that recently changed on the phone was a facebook update. I have never used facebook, but maybe it is doing something. Investigation needed.

What does it mean when the light on the front of the phone is flashing green ? Mine has started to do that recently

Edit: Also, I have a new voicemail notification. It won't go away. I've called voicemail, deleted all messages, but the notification remains. How do I get rid of it ? I'm really beginning to hate this phone now. And of course the battery issue is as yet unresolved. (goes flat after 12 hours of not using the phone at all). At the moment it is a useless slab of junk.

The next time I say I won't be buying another Sony phone I must remember to stick with it! Yellow tint has just popped up on mine :(

I haven't got to the bottom of the battery problem life on my phone yet. This is the history:

- purchased from Three, operated fine for a few months
- got ICS update
- got unlock code from Three
- replaced Three SIM with O2 SIM

Battery life on the phone was good originally. And also after the ICS update, I think it was better then.

Now - the battery life problem may have started when we switched to the O2 SIM. Is that possible ? Basically from what I can see, the phone is not going to sleep, it is almost always awake.

Could the change to O2 be the cause ?

Is it possible to revert the phone back to how it was originally (no ICS, no additional apps etc). If I can put it back into that state, then we can go forward again step by step. First change would be the O2 SIM.

EDIT: I have a backup in PC Companion from 29th April. That looks like an easy route. If I restore that backup, do I lose photos etc taken after that date ? Will that restore it back to pre-ICS ?

EDIT: Or perhaps less drastic, put the Three SIM card back in for a couple of days and see what happens. Easiest way to eliminate O2 as the potential problem.

OK - 3 hours later with the Three SIM card back in, the phone is clearly back to normal - it has lost just 4% of the battery.

I need to get to the bottom of this - with the Three SIM card, the battery life on the phone is very good. With the O2 SIM card, why does the phone exhaust the battery in just 12 hrs with the phone not being used at all ??

the Yellow tint on mine keeps coming and going. On warm days or if i've been very active it gets quite bad but it's always gone in the morning

Do Sony only care about unlocked bootloaders when returning a phone?
If you're talking about whether you've debranded your handset then I would guess it shouldn't really matter if you send it to Sony. If you go to O2 then it may be an issue.

Is anyone having problems with 3G since updating to ICS?

I did mine a couple of weeks ago on O2 and my 3G connection is apalling now. Powering off and on again sometime helps but it's bloody annoying.

I had appalling problems with O2 on my Xperia. Had Three initially, put O2 in there, disaster. back to Three now and all is well again.

Mine seemed worse to start with but I've got through nearly 200mb of data so far this month so it can't be to bad overall. I suspect it may just have been an 02 problem though as I wasn't getting any 3g signal close to home but it's fine now.
