The satellites have been deployed and the Vega launcher maiden flight has been a success.
 
Well is slept through the Vega launch, like a student during half term (exactly like a student during half term ;)). Looks pretty impressive from the videos though, what was that - two/three minutes to space? Four to orbit?

Another spectacular view from the space station. This time the Aurora Borealis Over the Midwest:

In this image taken on Jan. 25, 2012, the Aurora Borealis steals the scene in this nighttime photograph shot from the International Space Station as the orbital outpost flew over the Midwest. The spacecraft was above south central Nebraska when the photo was taken. The image, taken at an oblique angle, looks north to northeast.
