** The Official Space Flight Thread - The Space Station and Beyond **

Better to cancel and try again later than "risk" going with a dodgy part and maybe lose everything as, whilst it's fine for SpaceX having 15 failed attempts before a successful launch & landing (as their manufacturing capability can cope with that), for NASA losing the SLS would be a much bigger disaster.

Artemis, more like Alien Appeasement program. They have been on the far side of the moon buildings their bases for years, they already interfered with Armstong and Aldrin's crafts and that's why we didn't go back. There are some vital minerals on the moon which we need since we're farming too much over here, this is clearly some of kind of bridge-building exercise between species. Why do you think there are so many references to 'friendly' aliens in advertisements these days, Samsung, Air BnB etc. The reveal is coming and things like this are just the start.

If only :( :(

Oooh cool - when can we expect the announcment of aliens on the far side of the moon then? I need a date for my calender.

NASA's livestream "post incident" press conference is on, fault that was a stopper was confirmed as a bleed leak issue within a single engine which was internal to the engine core rather than an interface (pipework/valves on the outside between the tank and engine).

They're talking about a 96hr turn-around to fix and re-prep everything, which seems quick but NASA seem confident...............ish :D

EDIT - Also be careful with the livestreams, there a bunch of "fake" streams pushing bitcoin etc but have official sounding names like "NASA Official" and "NASA Live" etc.

gonna watch Caprincorn One movie again, much more fun.
Oh yeah. Great film. Haven't seen that in a couple of years. Probably should have a classic space film binge at some point soon.
Capricorn One, Dark Star, Silent Running, The Right Stuff, Forbidden Planet, Planet of the Apes

For real or wind up, I can’t tell?

It's not like we haven't done it before multiple times with inferior technology though and we sent both modules on a single rocket
Exactly - inferior technology. Less advanced, less safe, infinitely more risk and an almost infinite budget. There was very little extra to it than the public seeing them land on the moon and do some science. Saturn 5 was built pretty much just for this purpose (but also ended up lauching Skylab I think) whereas SLS is a heavy lift launcher for anything you want to put on it, and the Orion capsule is for mulptiple purposes, not just going to the moon. It's long term goals with the Lunar Gateway and making a system we can get to both it AND down to the moon in a 'shuttle' systen, if you will.

This time, we build a system to get us to the moon and stay there permanently.

They’ll try to resolve the valve issue on the pad, if they think it’s resolved they’ll try for a launch Friday 2nd Sept, if not they’ll have to roll back to the VAB at which point I doubt they try again till October.

I think that’s the rough idea atm
