** The Official Space Flight Thread - The Space Station and Beyond **

Marcus House has a video up with a few good points. Turns out one of the hydraulic control packs for centre engines gave up early on. The degree of translation in the early stage of the flight was wild much worse than I'd seen on other videos. Still great stuff. though.

If true this is wild - debris rained down on houses 5 miles away

I think it's pretty clear they're gonna have to completely redesign stage 0 before they can get another FAA license

And the launch pad theyve being building at complex 39A is DOA, NASA won't let them bring starship anywhere near that until they've rebuilt it with a better design

Those guys know the risk they take putting gear so close to the launch site, and they only get that close because Space X gave them permission otherwise the public can't be there for FAA safety reasons. I doubt insurance will pay and it's not the first time gear has been damaged

That being said if Space X feels really nice, they could cover the cost privately - they have done so previously for damage employee vehicles that have been parked too close to launches

All the gear, no idea :p:cry:;)

Elon says they will repair the pad and install a thick liquid cooled metal plate into the pad to prevent overheating

It was still at a fair altitude when it detonated so I guess it’s to be expected.

It's not parts of the rocket that landed on houses, it was stones and sand kicked up from the launch

The rocket debris landed in the ocean and has already started washing up on the beach, some residents grabbed them selves a heat shield tile already
