right firstly, i really really really need to stress nvidia is NOT the way to go. price to performance, they are not good, AND the 4870X2 is the best card money can buy.

IMO this would destory anything nvidia can do for £1000, will EAT crysis, and you can then add ANOTHER 4870X2 and completely obliterate games for along while yet.

BUT if you really are insistant on nvidia, which IMO dont be, fanboyism only allows the company to win, not the consumer then this is what i would get:

Thank You shaffaaf27 for the work,

im a total no0b at all this hardware stuff, the only reason im after nvidia, is that most games run better on the gtx 280 even if the card is actually less powerful than the ati one, im basing my choice to go for the nvidia setup rather than the ati:

plz advise me better?

also, will that powersupply be enough if i were to get 2 cards in a crossfire/sli setup? (2 radeon 4870 xd's/2 geforce 280 gtx's)

thank you.

the PSU will be MORE than enough.

also take a look here.

those were with the first drivers, this is very recent with updated drivers.

thanks shaffaaf27, Ive just ordered 3 so well have fun setting them up and should see some mighty improvements

no problem. hope you have fun :)

ok firstly, i would put it in the front, HDDs get very hott, and it will bring a good fresh cold supply of air to the rest of your system.

and yes i do suggest using 2 fans in the front as it can accommodate 1 fan in each 3 bay device.

as for a side fan, IMO it will distrupt the air flow in the case from front to back. :)

Okay, budget spec required for anyone up to the challenge!

your mean  :p

lets see...

this was bloody hard, and im £10 over, but you can go for an OcUK 8600GT for about £42, which you can put the extra to a better proccessor, but at 14400x900 the 8800GT will destroy games, to say the least.

for a 4870X2 ideally you want a Quadcore, so if you can stretch to a Q9550 then yes, thats a very good system.

though the RAM will hold back any OCing, ALSO, you get free shipping :D
