*****The Official SSX Thread*****

Well, I bought it and played it. Personally I dont like it...so far, I'm willing to give it more time as its probably just that I'm really rusty after not playing an SSX since tricky.

The rockies were fun, but I moved to Patagonia or whatever and just spent ages falling down holes...it seems the order of the day is just to keep doing the race over and over till you learn where you can and cant jump, course 50% of the time it seems that you take a large jump and then find out that there isnt anything to land on.

Sometimes it seems, as well, that I push RB to glide and it just doesnt, or it does but after a gap and that means that I'm not flying long enough to make some jumps...

I then tried out Siberia...had to beat Alex's score on the first race and after 4 goes I could get to around 200,000 and she was getting well over a million!

Coming from Tricky myself, it's definitely hard to finish races in gold on your 1st few attempts.
I get really annoyed when the peaks almost fool you into making a huge jump only to find out you overrun it by about 20 meters. Couple of other gripes after playing it for a few more days now; The guy who's meant to be advising you which jumps to take and where is best to land, seems to tell you whilst your half way through the jump, which of course is pretty useless. The other is the frequency I find myself just stuck on a rock or valley.
The old SSX games would eventually allow mavity to do it's thing and guide you down the slope if you ever got stuck, this SSX seems to have rocks coated with super glue where only pressing rewind (sometimes miles back if it's a big jump) allows you to correct what is normally a minor mistake.
Apart from this I actually enjoy the game for what it is, the global events definitely keep me coming back for more.

Having played it for an hour or so I have to say that so far it's a disappointment. No multiplayer on the same machine (which was half the fun), the controls are annoying (for me at least, I've been trained to hammer the shoulder buttons by previous ssx games so I keep rewinding), and the gameplay just feels boring for some reason.

No doubt it will get a lot more difficult later on, I'm just not feeling drawn into it atm :/

I agree with you mate, I'm finding the game pretty boring now. This has no way the longevity of SSX Tricky I caned that game for ages and never got bored of it. Really good 2 player, the courses were far more fun and imaginative/wacky imo. Pipedream was my all time favourite. ;)

Got this over the weekend, and I'm loving it. Splitscreen multiplayer is obviously a massive loss, but aside from that it's great. It's been too long without a decent extreme sports game!
