*****The Official SSX Thread*****

Hi guys, kind of new to the boards. Got SSX and I'm a bit of a score junkie but don't have many friends who will play it and compete with scores and such.

I have the game on PS3 and my ID is nightwoolf add me when your next online :D

Got it at 9am this morning. Finding the controls difficult to get used to after playing Tricky

I personally use the new control system and like it but if you find it too difficult to adjust just change to classic controls in the options menu that is similar to all previous SSX games.

The Global Events are great. Currently sitting in the Gold bracket on a Trick event with 17000 players in it prize pool is at 2.6 billion lol!

Yeah, I prefered the classic shoulder buttons for tricks, but using the stick for steering/pre wind has taken precidence, so I have shifted to the new face button controls.

The stick for tricks will make sense to players of Skate. People who haven't played Skate will prefer face buttons.

And my PSN ID is Adman1020. Feel free to add me :)

Ironically I'm a massive Skate fan :p

I think it's the pace of this game though, I struggle to use the stick as quickly as I can use the face buttons.

Like the demo I find the trick runs fantastic, a couple of attempts and I usually get gold. Plus the slower pace means you can take in the vistas!

Races though! Garrrrhhhh! Can't get better than silver!

Races require a different mentality than the game drives you toward. The game drives you to want to do tricks, but in the races you have to go for shorter jumps usually on the indicated ramps. This allows you faster lines down the track and trick just enough to keep tricky alive for the permanent boost.

Once you have the track down and know how to keep your tricky through the whole race, they become quite easy.

Struggling to make the transition personally, the last one I played being Tricky, I'll get there and probably enjoy it a lot more, the characters are less quirky sadly but the courses themselves are stunning but cant be frusrating (crevasses etc).

psn id is beasty-34

Loving this so far!

I do miss the dedicated race courses of Tricky and 3, but the courses are well built enough that racing and trick ones take you down completely different routes.

And wingsuits are epic, even if they are difficult.

Really impressed with this so far. Was a massive fan of Tricky back in the day & I can see this being just as good. Will take a bit of getting use to though & the races are a pain to get the gold on.

Looking for some people to add on the 360, only have one friend who has it at the mo. GT - kennydoc1888

Ok, just found out the worst thing about the new SSX, NO 2 PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN MODE!!!!

Came to play a VS game against my other half, spent a few minutes trying to find the 2 player menu and couldn't looked on the box and it says 1 Player or Network Multiplayer, meaning if we want to play against eachother we need to buy another PS3!

OMFG! these kind of games are built perfectly for split screen arent they?

Yeh it is a shame about the split screen. But I never enjoyed sharing a screen, especially with newer games because you lose too much detail. They did announce quite a while back that it would be SP with a lot of online focus.

Will have another crack at the game tonight without the beers but anyone else finding the courses don't really flow as well as previous games? Blind dark tunnel.......hole in ground, big air straight off a cliff etc? And it doesn't reset you onto the course, it's restart time!

Might just take a while to learn I suppose :)
