***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Loving New Atlantis. Haven’t had any performance drops yet either.

Maybe the time of day. When I arrived there were about 30 people minimum visible at any one time. That then decreased for some reason, maybe they all went home :p

Edit: nope, loads of people outside the food shop or whatever it is.

30 is nothing, should be 300. @mrk would probably still moan :p:cry:

Definitely some kinks to work out. NA, it’s raining, then I go inside and it’s stopped when I come back out, but there are still rain drop effects on the water features even though in theory the rain has stopped. Also had to restart the game to get rid of a tutorial pop up. Classic Bethesda, nothing game breaking yet at least. Wish the companion would stop getting in the way too, but again, classic Bethesda.

How is the inventory system? Is it better than FO76?

Not a fan personally, but it’s passable.

I've got the C2, I was hoping this would have proper HDR support. No chance?
On the SX, it does launch with Dolby Vision on the CX, so the console version certainly uses some form of HDR support. I've not fully tested it out but blacks do look black on on the CX.

Apparently not. And this is in SDr mode too, on an oled, if done right, blacks should still be black.

On console?

Maybe auto hdr (similar to what microsoft do for consoles) will do the trick but in this day and age, should have native proper hdr support.

Yes, on console (Series X).

Watched some of this last night. About what I expected FO4 in space. The little start to the story was full on the usual zero interaction. Guy was running up to the miners with a laser cutter and blasting them in the face. They take no damage or go into some hilarious speech pattern of asking you to stop :D

Running up to the thrusters of a space ship landing and taking zero damage. I'll pick it up at some point when it's heavily discounted.

Not really followed this game much but you can bet your bottom dollar there will be great bugs seeing as it is a Bethesda game.

No HRD seems like such a letdown considering how much of a big release this is.

With space games this big, I really hope it does not feel empty out there. Planets, cities, towns etc

I've seen a couple of reviews and gameplay, it looks good but one expectation not met for me is you can't seamlessly walk your character into a ship, into a chair, then it switches to cockpit view or external view and then take off using in game engine and fly off.

And then do the opposite when landing. A bit like GTA5, when you get into a car or a helicopter or a plane. You just get in and fly off.

This to me is like a vital part now of a sandbox style game. Starfield lacks this part as it goes into a cut scene, also you can't fly into and planet and through the atmosphere and land. I know these game play elements are kind of superficial but it add so much in terms of pulling you in.

And this is why I'm not a fan of reshade etc. Initially looks great e.g.
