*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Am loving factorio on my oled deck at the moment! It's very much playable although I am still getting better at using the touchpads but I don't think will ever be as quick as using a mouse.

Hadn't used it for a while so getting stuck into a space age game is making it worthwhile!

On a 8 hour flight sunday, anyone got anything good to play?

Games I enjoy/already got installed on the deck;
Prison Architect
Skater XL
Dirt 3/rally
Towerfall Ascension
Hotline Miami

There is more but im struggling to think whilst im at work!

I'm on a bit of an Xbox 360/early Xbox One era kick at the moment. Games from this era run great on Deck, get decent battery life and cost peanuts to buy. A few suggestions:

Batman Arkham Asylum/City/Knight
Shadow of Mordor/War
Tomb Raider (2013)
Bioshock 1, 2 & Infinite
Fallout 3 & New Vegas
Mass Effect Trilogy
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Mirror's Edge
Dragon Age: Origins/2/Inquisition
The Witcher 2/3

Almost every game on that list (the Dragon Age games, South Park & TW3 being the exceptions) can be picked up for under a fiver.

Got my 2TB drive today, along with an NVME dock (generic Chinese model, but seems well put together).

Installation of the drive was painless. But now comes the job of setting everything back up on the Deck again  So far I've got the OS back on. I'm downloading a few games, then I've got to set Decky Loader, Emudeck & Junk Store back up. Might give a Windows dual boot a go too now I've got spare space.

I recently picked up an Odin 2 for playing emulators on and have been really enjoying the portable device; not tying me to the desktop pc for most stuff.
There's a load of this era of stuff I'd like to revisit that's got me looking at a Steam Deck or Windows Handheld it has to be said; as you say there's some bargains there (and a lot of stuff I already own on Steam anyway!)

I'm looking at parting with my Odin 2 as I find the thumbsticks just a touch too small to be comfortable - kinda makes me want a deck (which I don't really need, much like I didn't need the Odin 2!). Something attractive about SteamOS over Android.

I quite like the size of the Odin but I haven't found I'm necessarily taking it out with me any more than I would a larger device. (I've already got a Switch that tends to live at home). I'm half thinking about a smaller, less capable Android device and a Steam Deck / Maybe Legion Go for home.

I found myself only using at home when the TV was in use as a remote play device and didn't really get into emulation as much as I thought I would. It definitely isn't a pocketable device and it isn't quite bulky enough to feel like an equivalent Xbox/Dualsense controller. I thought it would light my fire but it didn't. Does the Deck have a better in hand feel to it that'll scratch the controller itch? The issue was definitely thumbsticks for me.

I very briefly had a Steam Deck for a few days back at the very start and the handling ,etc was great - I just thought it was "too" big at the time, something I'm not as bothered about now

Yeah if it's lounging on the sofa I can't imagine size is a concern. I think I'd mostly use it for playing stuff that will run at 60fps and streaming more demanding stuff from my gaming machine.

The deck feels great in hand honestly. It’s a sturdy thing and comfortable to hold.

Ah bad times, luckily the charger that comes with it is pretty long so you should be able to play plugged in :) I'd recommend a 90 degree USB C connector for comfort though.

Any games you have in mind?

Good shout on the 90 degree connector!

Erm games wise, mostly SP story stuff, have a few indie type games I want to play but play whilst sitting in bed/sofa.

It arrived this morning, few games loaded on so will get some gaming done!
