Hi all

As the open beta test is now over and it is less than two weeks to the release (according to some sites anyway!) I thought i'd start off this thread to discuss the Full Game (when it comes out).

I've got my copy pre-ordered... anyone else done the same? Any news on release dates - one i've got is 16th Feb.

I hope not! amazon still says 16th feb, ive pre-ordered it and cant wait to get my hands on it, so bored with games at the moment :(

Yes me too. Can't wait for this, really enjoyed the open beta. Not too fussed by the online play tbh but i still hope they iron out any of the net code issues before release.

Just checked where i pre ordered my copy from and the release date is now showing as 2nd March! Boohoo! Oh well never mind. Maybe they will fix more issues now they have a couple more weeks until release ;)

I have to disagree with that, imo most are different. They all pull away differently, hammer it in 1st in a crappy car, and your get a tiny bit of wheel spin, hammer it in a zonda and your be skidding for 400feet up until 3rd. They all have different understeer/oversteer levels aswell, get into a audi a3, find a corner and go 100mph into it, i bet if you then got into a 360 it would feel completely different. Breaking is faster/slower in most cars. You got things like tail wag when you slam the breaks on in some cars.

Have you even played it?

I agree i think the cars are quite different. The F430 was the best all rounder for me and was my 'everyday car' ;)

exactly, the cars do not feel significantly diff as its not a sim, some are faster, some handle poor, its very basic , glad you agree

But you didn't say that in your original post:

all the cars feel the same with the exception of speed

If you don't like the game, then don't buy it. Leave those who like the game to enjoy it.

you could also quote me saying ' i really enjoyed playing TDU' or 'its not a bad game' , dont be so pedantic

i wasnt writing a review just putting some views out there, if you dont like them, tough titty

I could have done but I was trying to point out that you had changed your statement. Everyone is entitled to their views and its not that I don't like your views, I agree with your 'change of view' that the cars differences are basic in comparison to one of the sims you mentioned, it's just I don't like people changing their views within a few posts.

I don't like that either, gets right on my nerves, but still lets move on shall we ??

Bit disappointed that the release date has been delyaed by another 2 weeks, but oh well I've waited this long, I can wait a little while longer more I guess.

Indeed.

Yeah i was hoping the feb 16th date would be the one but if its another two weeks then so be it. Longer for them to fix bugs i hope!

Oh give up will you. Im not defending the game. It isn't a sim, its an arcade game. As i quoted you (and its very clear to anyone that reads it), you said one thing then changed it. Thats all im saying. If you are not man enought to admit that then fine - don't. Just don't moan when someone picks you up on it.

this is what ...... turn out

Whatever.

Anyway something meaningful to this thread and back OT. I own a Logitech DFP wheel and it worked fine, no probs what so ever. I would recommend turning the turning degree down from 900 to 450. It helps when trying to make any sharp U turns and tight corners.

I encountered a few issues during the open beta test. It crashed a few times but i couldn't get any correlation between the crashes. The graphics went a bit screwy each time i loaded but a quick flick back to windows and back again sorted. All of which were reported to the devs so hopefully something will have been done about before the full release.... but don't hold your breath!

I'm looking forward to the full release. It will make a change just being able to blast round the island rather than the serious racing of LFS im used to - which is the game to go for if you are looking for serious sim racing. TDU is not a sim.

Bah humbug I made a official thread and there was already this. Search failed me!

Anyway, questions from a TDU virgin.

Is the gameplay to get credits for cars hard? I am going to have to invest a great deal of time (like a MMORPG) to advance very little? Or can I play on and off and still get new cars and upgrades? I have never played so don't know what car you start with...or if you keep it. I really don't know, do you have a account which stores your car online or do you just play on a particular server and nothing is saved?

There are no servers as such (not in the normal BF2, COD, HL2 etc... sense anyway). You join the master server and away you go. I think as you move to another area of the island you will 'switch' servers but it is transparent.

As far earning credits it is easy. After 7-8 hours gameplay i had a F430, Lambo and a Ford GT. But unlocking bikes and upgrades i never got round to on the Beta. But even after getting those great cars i was still on ~15% into the game according to my game progress. Thats why i cant wait for the full thing as im missing a lot of the game it seemed! A week on Friday! Cant wait :D

Is a steering wheel necessary? I have a playstation style gamepad. Would I be at a big disadvantage? Never had problems with games like gran turismo and alike. G25 is quite expensive! :)

A pad is just fine. The game is more arcade than sim by a long way.
