**The official Vanguard Thread**

I'm pretty sure you can't buy them yet, or at least get a permenant one. Theres a quest around the Martok area where you get a temporary one, kind of like the flying Gryphon quest in Thestra. I don't think theres a way to keep them after the quest yet, which is a shame. The Gryphon is sooo fast! I want a wyvern. :p

I could be wrong!

a flying mount and id be happy...no more slogging it across continents hehe

wonder if you can have ranged pvp in the skies....now that would be amusing (aslong as they didnt pet despawn when hit in which case you better hope to hell you have a levitate spell)

I purchased a helmet which I can not equip because it says

required flags: forging rewrought armor

I am depressed now as I spend all my money on it and I can not wear it :(

Can anyone tell what is forging rewrought armor and how do I go about getting some?

thanks

I noticed they were doing server mergers on Vanguard, and peeps were kicking up a fuss cause they were going to lose a "team PvP" server.

I tried this game in beta but it just felt empty/couldnt get into it/didnt want to commit required time to it.

I just brought this through steam a little while ago and i'm having a blast, the game has come on leaps and bounds, sure there are still a few bugs lurking around but it performs so much better and is so much more stable, the only thing really holding it back is population.

Which is great really because the game is going through a real revival at the moment, populations on the server I play on (seradon) have sky rocketed recently and the population levels now hit the 'high' level a few nights a week when they were previously rooted at 'low'. A number of new leveling guilds have sprung up and the starter area is now full of people running around.

I recommend anyone looking for a great quality classic MMO with large open worlds, plenty of classes and races and great depth at least download the trial as it is not something any MMO player should miss.

Oooh, one of my favourite mmo's :D

Loved the open world, the way you could just take a griffon and fly in a random direction, and always land and find something interesting.

Always felt a bit empty though, might take a peek if there's a bit of a revival going on.

*blows the dust off*

Well, they're finally making it free to play :

Bit of dev work and an influx of players will do wonders for the ol' nag :)

Yeah....thanks for the positive input from the "I played it at launch and can only assume it's exactly the same five years later" school of thought

After the 30 minute dev preview video a few months before release it looked epic, bragged to all my friends how good it was going to be. Couldn't wait to play.

The beta hit, oh dear :(

Will definitely grab this to see how it's got on!

The only problem I found with Vanguard was the massive lack of players. Else it was fine.

I actually couldn't see for myself why there were no other players - apart from there being no other players.

This was in 2007, btw.

Spectacularly bad launch put most of the prospective players off, the engine was really badly optimized then, it was pretty much a lottery whether your PC could run it or not.

Also riddled with bugs and blatantly unfinished :)

I don't remember any problems. There were less bugs than there normally is in new MMOs, and it clearly was more complete than many existing MMOs were. It had a LOT more content than most MMOs have.

I really think it was a case of everyone kept saying it, so everyone believed it.
