Happy with this E8400 though so will be keeping it for some time to come
Hey gurusan,

nice clock there mate, would have loved to been able to test LGA775 with DDR3 but there ya go!

That's a really good System-Latency you got there, 47.8ns is impresssive! . . . did you adjust tRD for that or is it on auto? . . . . have you got memset? as that shows useful memory related info (subtimings/tRD etc) . . . also It would be great if you could update your CoreTemp to the latest version as the new one keeps a log of Idle/Load . . . I am curious to the load temp under full stress! ;)

I am offering up a comparison with the DDR2 based AIIX3 system I am currently testing, only had a while with it compared to the years I had on LGA775 but its showing a lot of promise . . . DDR2 value system remember!

I am using a tiny 100mm Scythe Mine Rev. B cooler that I got off the MM for 10 squids :) so my temps during Linpack were mid-high 80s. Linpack is a really unrealistic load so that's ok though, prime is about 20C lower than that and during normal use the temps rarely hit 50C :)

I can do some more testing later to show temps, I am tempted to upgrade but the CPU itself doesn't seem to want to do much more than 4.55GHz linpack stable and that's the only thing that gets temps as high as they are, so I really don't need to upgrade.

And yes the latency is pretty good for 775, I could get it even lower with some better memory (G.Skill ECO or similar), but will have to wait until the prices drop if they ever do!

Your latency is quite good for DDR2 as obviously AMD has the advantage of the IMC rather than the northbridge memory controller on DDR2.
