** The Official WWDC 2010 Thread **

They have special press passes. Just for the keynote. I don't know if they cost anything, but I doubt it. They don't charge for the September events, so I don't see why they would charge for this?

the whole "we're apple and we're the next best thing since sliced bread because we're better than everybody else" thing is what puts a lot of people off them.

Me, i know thats their marketing strategy and see past it. I like apple because of the design of the hardware. and the simplicity and ease of use of the software, and how well designed it is.

If any of those things stopped, id go back to not using them again.

Of course i am! :p

My contract has been up for renewal this month so it's great timing! :D

Maybe it's just americans i don't like, i wonder if it'd been different in the UK.

There was a V.I.P. area at the keynote address where the media went...the media get in for free, don't have to wait in line and get the front 10-20 metres of seats.

Nobody likes the Americans, nothing new about that ;) :p

It's just the fact that Apple act like they are totally oblivious to the competition and kinda brainwash you into thinking Apple is the best thing EVAR!

Thats because they have good marketing. They will only "brainwash" you if you let them. Why should they be bothered about the competition? They're the biggest tech company in the world, they must be doing something right!

And of course i know it's a developer conference. I'm sure 50% or more of the people attending, the keynote was very high if not the highest priority.

Really? You're telling me that over 2500 people are attending WWDC just for the keynote? I'm pretty sure there are far more attending WWDC for the classes rather than the keynote.

You'd be surprised. The amount of people that were here for the opening keynote was pretty mental! I understand that not all those people go to all the labs and sessions but still. Speaking to a lot of people the keynote was a very important thing see Pastor Jobs at work.

And, ah ma gah! Steve Jobs!

It's quite annoying the hall that we were in wasn't sloped. I didn't want to get in anyones way and stand up with a telephoto lens the whole time, so basically had to pray i got good shot holding my camera at arms length above my head.

how many people even go? For a £1k ticket its rather silly as you can watch it in the next day online :O

I think the slide in the keynote said 5200. Plus online the next day, doesn't give you time with the developers or to meet other people doing the same work as you.

I doubt many people would go just for the keynote, there would be other reasons too surely.

as i understand it from previous keynotes & what ive heard from developers

Day 1: Keynote - Playing with toys - asking Apple engineers (normally 1 engineer to 3 people) about the product & how to ultize it.

Day 2: A conference from top Apple Engineers about how to ultize the new features in-depth & Q&A's

Day 3: Questions & answers on certain features

Im pretty sure thats it, i doubt its a week long,

The burning question is: would you go again?

If it was more OS X and Macintosh based. Definitely. :)

True true. They also have iPhones there to play with right?

Only the media could play with the new iPhones... :/

Not the people who paid.

It's 5 days long. I can tell you exactly what went on on each day, not sure that's under NDA. There was an app given to everyone attending that pushed updates to your phone or iPad, the app detailed each event going on throughout the week. I had to leave on the thursday as i needed to attend a wedding. The keynote is a very small portion of the event. It's mainly talks of new technologies in general and labs where you can ask professionals to help with your work. Also there is seminars where you learn.
