** The Official WWDC 2024 thread - Keynote 10th June at 18:00 BST **

Not sure I’m brave enough yet..

It can be an awful idea to do this on personal/daily devices, especially for the first few. Banking apps in particular can have issues.

I usually just wait for the RCs - cool enough to get it before the masses, but without risking my day-to-day.

Not my first beta trip, I’ve been doing them for years, but If I do use the betas it will be on my iPad which isn’t really mission critical to me.

US English only to begin with. Presuming this excludes those in the UK with their phone (rightly) set to UK English.
It does:

Apple Intelligence will be available in beta on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later, with Siri and device language set to U.S. English, as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall.

As with most yearly updates there are a handful of cool things, a bunch of actually useful features and some fluff.

For me the things I am most interested in:
- Improvements to data in Fitness App
- Fitness readiness data.
- Being able to put icons anywhere for a cleaner home screen.
- Standalone password app.

My first observations are that the new wallpaper is nice, the new passwords app allows you to manage all your saved wifi networks and all my banking apps still work. So far so good! I also spotted the battery charging options but left mine on 80.

Any obvious changes to the stock Calendar app's monthly view on iOS, and its widgets on both iOS/macOS? (Aimed at anyone who's diving right in, of course...)

I've almost finished migrating from 1Password, the new app makes the process far easier. The gotchas are login items with multiple URLS, passkeys and my work MFA which is non transferable. Anything that isn't a login also needs a new home, I have items such as my passport details, membership details and software licences saved. I'll sort all that tomorrow.

Every time she says Siri, my iPad stops and waits!
Man my iPhone and HomePods were having a field day yesterday! Ended up watching the show in the bedroom on my iPad.

Excited by iOS18, especially the customisation with the Lock Screen/control centre upgrades. Mail looks quite interesting too.

I’m sticking with BitWarden for my password manager though. Sod lumping all my eggs into one basket!

That was quite a good WWDC I thought.

One thing I find frustrating with the current 'Passwords' is that there isn't a way to fully edit items, looks like that's still the case?

I put beta on my iPad and the only annoying bug I’ve encountered so far is editing the control centre, things get stuck or won’t move where you want them, requiring a reboot to fix, but that’s just something Apple will sort in future betas.

Hmm I think I can edit everything on a login except websites on a list. If I want to change one I have to delete it and add in the modified entry. I've also spotted that you can't add websites without a suffix onto the list so I've sent over some feedback on that.

There were a few reasons I stopped using Passwords, hopefully they get decent feedback and start implementing some of the 1Password features, as that's tbh what most people want.

I thought Siri only recognised the users voice, but guess not.
I’ve used Keychain for quite a while although I have 1Password as well (mainly for Windows). Wondered sometimes about everything in one, but I just find it slicker.

Some interesting AI features but got the feeling it’s a bit rushed. Not just that it isn’t in the beta yet, but just the way they said some features would come later and then only in beta again.
Would also liked it to have been clearer as to which features classified as AI. For example it seems Mail and Smartscript both need it so those features aren’t in the beta yet either - as far as I can tell?

Disappointed the iPadOS didn’t get more layout upgrades though.
