***The Official Yorkfield Q9300/Q9450/Q9550 Overclocking Thread ***

Too much uncertainty on the capability of these chips. I am really thinking to go for an extreme if I am going to pay 250+!

I am in great need of a quad nowadays since I depend on VM machines as part of a project

Oh dear looks like easy rider has failed again. Perhaps this thread should be closed and someone with a little more inteligence on processors should open a new 1 :D

lmao

do you have one of these coming easy as u said u were getting an e8xxx cpu and started a thread just to **** people off in there

Prime stable shot please.

Will be interesting to see if it passes with that vcore.:)

Will get around to doing that later, hopefully the vcore can stay the same.

mh nice is the x3350 much more expensive then q9450 ? and does it fit in x38 mob ?

Had to import, Approx £200 inc shipping + VAT. It is socket 775, so yes it will fit in an x38 motherboard such as Formula/Extreme.

e8500 v q9450

I have been tempted by the e8500 recently but have been convinced by many that quad core is the best even with it only reaching 3.6ghz stable and the e8500 reaching 4.2ghz. It also seems quad core has more benefits than dual core and especially will have more so in the near future so I will still stick with q9450 even if I have to get 3.4ghz OC thats still better than a £1000 CPU stock at 3.2ghz so...

If I clock to 3.4ghz thats a higher clock than a stock £1000 cpu in terms of clock speed, and seeing as all the other tech is the same I assumed it would outperform it, just that the £1000 would have a better OC potential than a q9450.

Correct me if I am wrong.
